Frugality of a whole roasting chicken

The current $10.50 roasting chicken ($1.59/lb) resulted in 11 three-ounce (85g) portions of cooked meat plus scraps/bones/etc. to make several cups of strong stock.

So that's $0.95/serving plus stock.

    I roast a chicken about once a week, stuffed with fresh herbs from our garden. If I find them on sale I stock my freezer with them. Sochi good value and so tasty.
