Hey everyone, I found these 2 different brands, one is called BioTrust and the other is Vega Sport protein powders with 3 different options..
The BioTrust IC-5 are capsules that claim to increase insulin levels and manage your carbohydrate levels to help you lose weight. They claim with proper diet and exercise it will greatly aide in weight loss with the 5 natural ingredients in the pill (Cinnamomum Burmannii, Berberine, Pterocarpus Marsupium, 4-hydroxyisoleucine & R-Alpha-Lipoic-Acid or R-ALA). I've been looking online and all the reviews except 2 have been positive.
I don't have a lot of money to spend on products like this so do you think this would be worth the buy? Also, I haven't found anything on what happens when you stop taking them if there were any side effects or if something happens to your pancreas or some other organ from the over production of insulin that it claims to cause. Idk do you think it would be something you would try or would you just stick to regular diet and exercise.
Their website with the listing can be found here: http://www.biotrust.com/Shop.asp?s=&View=Item&Product=2316
The second product I came across was the 3 Vega Sport protein powders called Prepare, Sustain, Recover and I found them in a local Shoppers Drug Mart for about $40. (Sorry, I know nothing about protein powders and as far as I know they're for people who are weight lifting and body building which may not be the case but again I'm not sure.) Here is the link to these products: http://vegasport.com/products/
My questions on these is who actually needs to use protein powders? Should someone who is just starting out with fitness use any of these products, if so which one do you think they would use? I was thinking the recover to deal with the muscle soreness. Lastly, is a product like this worth the buy, especially for someone like myself who is just starting out.
Thanks for the help, and sorry for my book. I've got no clue what I'm doing and I know many of you do

I would honestly say just try and stick it out with watching your calorie intake and getting some exercise.
Although there may be some proof things like this work, I would say it must be negligible. Sadly there is no magic pill.
If you really have trouble sticking with your calories then maybe look at things that help, but in the first instance I would just go for counting calories and see how you go.0 -
Oh and with regards to protein powders, if you are not hitting your protein goals then they might be useful.0

Rubbish.I don't have a lot of money to spend on products like this so do you think this would be worth the buy?
NO.
the best way to improve insulin sensitivity and carbohydrate metabolism is to engage in regular intense exercise and keep within a sensible body fat range. no short cuts i'm afraid/My questions on these is who actually needs to use protein powders?
people who can't meet their daily protein needs through normal food0
