Hairy bikers recipes

Just got their diet book and made southern style jambalayla, according to the book each portion should be 341 calories and i made 1 and a half portions for myself. Started to put the ingredients in and half way through calories was up to 700? i am guessing that the meal would be close to a 1000 calories, trying to work out which is right mfp or hairy bikers nutritionist?

Seems a huge difference, any ideas?

I haven't tried this recipe yet bilts but I have cooked a number from both books and found none especially accurate (the first book is particularly bad) I would take it as a recipe "guide" (ie nick the good ideas like bulking out carbs with veg, using spices to add interest, baking rather than frying, etc) but I'd take the calorie guide from MFP. Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply, what i don't get is the large difference in calories especially as they used a nutritionist. If they claim a portion is 300 calories but mfp calculates is at 900 someone is seriously wrong. Can't believe no one has picked up on it if they are incorrect by such a large amount, the recipes in the book look good but i will be wasting my time if the calorie info is so far out.

The calories they quote are actually in mfp database so either the hairy bikers are wrong or mfp is

Hi hilts. I have just run it through MFP less the herbs a come out with 2507 to serve 6 so 417 a portion. Which is over the 341 they claim but not as hugely over as your calculation. Are you sure you have entered the amounts correctly. In each category (ie tomatoes) there will be a range of different measurements for each item listed. All the best.
