Stretch Marks: Did yours get better?

Ive gained 50 lbs in 2 years, and the most recent 15 caused my skin to go from pretty good to laden with stretch marks. BRIGHT red, on my hips, thighs, breasts...
I've had a lot of white ones everywhere from growing/being overweight as a child, and I would be thrilled if these faded to white.

Any stretch mark success stories? How much weight did you lose before you saw improvements? Any supplements or creams or diet changes that helped?

I saw some improvement by using Bio-Oil (Vitamin E).

I had a lot in my stomach and the tops of my arms.

Didn't take much before they started to fade... Perhaps like after loosing a stone or something! Although they turned sliver, they left my skin really loose and yucky looking!!

I've been training & toning up more recently and I've been really pleased with the results so far! My stomach is now finally tight and the stretch marks can hardly be seen, unless you look really close!!

So in answer to your question, you're stretch marks will fade from loosing weight, but ultimately the only way to improve the look of your skin is from working out & tightening up!!

Unfortunately, I don't have any before pictures of my stomach, but here it is now:

    Good luck!

Thats encouraging! You look great, thanks for sharing!
  • They will absolutely fade to a light color like your other ones. I have noticed as I have lost weight mine have gotten narrower so they are more like lines but they haven't gone anywhere. The skin is quite loose and my doctor has said the only thing to tighten the skin at this point is surgery. But the younger you are and the fewer times you yo-yo with your weight the better your chances for bounce back. I think genetics play a part too, some people have great, elastic skin. I also think eating well with plenty of protein, water and vitamins can't hurt.

I'll take yours over my two inch long 2cm wide DEEP ones. They will fade to your natural skin color. Mine however, are the worst case I've ever seen. Imagine aking your stretchmarks and crumbling them up like a ball of paper. Cause that's what mine look like. HOT RIGHT?

Like any scars, stretchmarks will fade on their own, over time. How much and how fast they fade will be mainly dependant on your skin tone and genetics.

I had tons and they all faded.. even the ones on my arms you can barely see them now. Just little white lines. Don't worry about it at all!

Used to have bright red lines on my thighs and hips. Now they've faded to white, if I can see them at all, which is nearly impossible except in the brightest of lights.

Have also heard the same thing happening to a couple of friends of mine IRL who lost a bit of weight.

My best guess (from a limited sample!) is that after 15-20 lbs you will see a massive difference.

I have had them on my breasts since I was 14. They've faded long time ago. I did 70% aha peel on them about 8 years ago and it helped to even the layers of the skin.

I think I've done about the same, a couple years ago I had bright red stretch marks too. they're completely gone. (were gone without losing weight.) I don't remember how long it took them to disappear, they did though.
  • Thank you to everyone who commented! I am encouraged and my mind is at ease :)

Mine faded to white in time. It depends on your skin tone. I'm very pale, so it took years, and some are still a pale purple even though it's been 12 years.
