Technically your body has to burn calories to warm the water up in your body before it can use it, but I think the study was maybe 100 cals a day, kinda a bonus if it really happens0

Everything I have read about drinking water has stated that the cold water is better thing is a myth. Some think that the body having to work to warm the water helps with metabolism, but as far as the articles I have read there is no scientific proof.0

There's a good chance I'm wrong here, but I think I read somewhere that it's better to drink it at room temperature. But I just can't do it. I need my water to be ice cold.0

some say it does...because your body uses calories trying to warm it up to a level where it is usuable!
I'm not sure though...sorry

I've heard different things on this. In one camp is the yes, because your body has to increase calorie burn to warm it up it increases calorie burn. In the other camp is the no, because your body has to warm up the water, it stops processing food, slowing down your metabolism.
Not sure which camp I'm in really. I do know that a cold glass of water wakes me up better than a cup of coffee (the temperature shocks the sensitive nerves in the back of the throat, causing your body to feel more alert.0 -
My father-in-law insists that drinking cool (not cold) water is best for your cells lining your stomach, and the water can be more readily absorbed since the cells are less constricted when the water is less frigid. I prefer drinking cold water for the instant satisfaction, but his point does make sense. I would stick with cool, and concentrate on consuming your minimum 8 glasses.0

I am in the ice ice cold camp. Have to have my water cold, LOL. On our 116 mile bike ride we were packing on 10 pounds of ice I needed it so bad. Don't give a hoot about the maybe 10 calories more it burns, it just quenches my thirst 1 million times better.0

I heard cold was best...but I find that hard to believe. I only like water with no ice & room tempature. So I hope it's not true!0

i just read on dr ozs site(so it has to be true right?!) that if you drink 8 glasses of ice cold a day your body will burn an extra 70 cal a day. and i will take that chance even if there is the remote possibility that i can eat more because of it!0
