Hello to you all.

I've read a lot of succestories, and I'm full of respect for what you accieved.
I see that overweighted people, who lost so much kilos, gain in selfrespect and willpower.
Great for you.

But I've got a question for you posters:

What happened to your skin?
Does it go by itself, or did some of you needed churgery?

I'm really interested in your answers.
Greetings

    Churgery

    Bottom Line

As mentioned earlier, elasticity of your skin will naturally decrease with age. Though you can address issues such as not losing weight too quickly, staying properly hydrated, eating the right foods, and caring for your skin, you simply have no control over your age! Quick and dirty tip: Rather than letting age stress you out, you should focus on the things over which you have control—like exercising and eating right—and you’ll find that you always look good.

Because we're all different, each person will have a different response after losing weight. Some people may bounce back quickly while others may need to consider body contouring surgery to get rid of extra skin. Natalie recommends waiting at least a year after weight loss before considering plastic surgery to allow your weight to stabilize.

Remember that body contouring surgery is an expensive and serious surgery requiring a long recovery time. You may be able to make a difference with other options, such as exercise and a healthy diet. A basic cardio and strength training program can help you reduce body fat while building muscle. When you add muscle, you can improve how the skin looks and may be able to reduce some sagging.

    Step 1

Allow your sagging skin to retract and regain firmness on its own. After weight loss, your skin is in shock. The fat that used to stretch it out is now gone and with nothing to fill in that space, it hangs off your body. However, over two year's time, your sagging skin might snap back into place. Two years of sustained weight loss is recommended before pursuing drastic surgical procedures.

    Step 2

Follow an exercise regimen that combines cardiovascular exercises like running and swimming with toning exercises like weightlifting and Pilates. By combining these exercises, you help to keep the weight off and build muscle, which can fill in the gap where fat used to be and make your skin look less loose.

    Step 3

Consider surgery to remove your sagging skin. If a significant amount of time has passed since your weight loss or if you were extremely overweight, surgery might be your best option. Body contouring surgery will be the likely choice for your arms, legs, breasts and hips, since it involves removing sections of sagging skin and reshaping what remains to better form to your body.

    Step 4

Consider a tummy tuck if your sagging skin is located primarily on your belly. Also known as an abdominoplasty, this procedure involves the removal of sagging skin from your stomach and the tightening of the skin that remains, says the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

I've lost 130 lbs. I have excess skin around my stomach that will probably never go away without surgery. I guess that's just the way its going to stay. Can't see getting surgery for vanity :-):-)

Ive lost 182 pounds and have excess skin on my tummy and thighs. I have no intention of having surgery. Hopefully in time it will improve more...I still have 20-40 pounds to go so there is still fat under it so will hopefully improve,

I have lost 140 pounds in a year and a half. I was up to 303 lbs, stand 5'7". My skin is loosest in the thighs, upper arms, stomach, and lower back. It is wrinkly and I can pull it out and make myself miserable playing with it. It sucks. Horribly. It is, however, better than being full of fat. There is still fat in there, don't get me wrong, but I would look a lot better if my skin was tighter and held the fat closer to my body, if that makes sense. My goal was to lose 150 pounds so I have about ten to go. It's hard to imagine that I only have ten pounds of fat left on my body to lose, as the loose skin makes it look like I have much more. My plan is to continue what I'm doing with diet and exercise until I look the way I want to. If the skin looks like there isn't any fat left in it, then I'll start to maintain my weight. I'm going to give it a year before I think about surgery, which I can't afford anyway so will probably never have.
I have taken collagen, biotin, vitamin e, and lotion every day but I don't know if it helps or not. I'm just trying to do what I can.

    Sorry about the pity party!

I've lost a lot and there are certain parts of my body that are a little saggy.
However when I was heavy I refused to get lapband because I didn't need it...I certainly don't need to get cut in half and pulled.

I saw my mother get the stomach staple and a tummy tuck and now I never will.
Way too much risk for vanity in my opinion.

I have lost over 80 pounds. I did it slowly. I still can stay where I am at or lose another 15. My arms were pretty saggy at first. They have really toned up although there is still some sagginess. My stomach is probably the worst but not horrible. I think I would be about five pounds less with that skin gone. But it has improved. I had saggy skin at the thighs but running and cycling has been slowly making it disappear. I still have loose skin on my back. I have lost most of my weight last year and have slowly lost some more this past year but have maintained my weight loss. I have heard that it can take up to seven years and for someone like me at my age, this may always be an issue. I would rather live with this then be the other way. I am sure it would be an issue if I had lost several hundred. I am not sure I want to put myself through the risk of surgery. I doubt my doctors would approve it to be covered under my medical insurance since I do not have rashes or infections.

I've lost 110 pounds over the years. Trying to lose my last 13-20.

Unfortunately I have lots of loose skin on my tummy. :( Some of it is definitely fat, which will come off with these last 20 BUT I worry about the skin that is still there.

I am going to wait a year or two and if it is not gone will take out a loan for a tummy tuck. An expensive thing with my budget but the loose skin already bothers me a lot (even my son has asked me "why I'm so wrinkly down there.").

I have exercised almost daily for 12 years now, and have been lifting heavy for a year. This has absolutely helped me tone and shape up. My arms and legs are awesome. It is just my darned tummy skin that wont go anywhere.

    Good luck!

I have lost 80 pounds and I am left with some unsightly loose skin but nothing too crazy. I'm 25 and a lot of people keep saying since I am young it will bounce back, but so far nothing crazy has happened to where I notice it tightening up over time. I would take the loose skin over the excess weight any day though!
