Do you consider watching your own child babysitting? Isn't it just "parenting"?

    Yes. I never felt the need to arrange for my husband to "watch" my daughter if I had plans/things to do. I'm leaving the house. He's there, she's there. End.

    I don't have kids so maybe my opinion is invalid.

    I have always considered it parenting. I know my brother just considers it parenting.

    During my previous marriage, their father always wanted me to take my children with me...even if he was just sitting around on his big fat *kitten* doing nothing!!!

    This. If my husband has the kids, I just say my husband "has" the kids, not that he is "babysitting" them.

    if its your kid, its parenting, not babysitting. Its only babysitting when you did not make or help make that child(ren).
