Restarting after surgery

They subject says it all. I am coming up on 9 weeks since knee replacement. Just last week I started back at the gym. I been spending time in the pool doing exercises or starting back to swimming laps. I am trying to get my calorie intake back on track with my gym and also pt. Have not started weight training again just yet. Thinking maybe a couple more week or has someone been though this and has soon did you go back to lifting weight? Please I feel like I am at a loss and don't know where to start.

Seems to me like your physical therapist or doctor would be able to answer your questions re: your exercise program. My mother took forever to recover, but she is 40 years older than you. Age, weight, fitness level at the time of your surgery, etc will determine how quickly you recover. As for the food part of it, you can be watching that now, no need to wait. I am currently undergoing rehab for my back (week 5 of 6 weeks), so my exercise is not where I would like it to be. Because of that, I scaled back my food intake a bit.

Do what the doc & PT tell you, and good luck to you!

    Edit for grammar.

Totally agree, everyone has a different recovery. Check with your PT and physician.

    Good luck!

Everyone is different. I had surgery several years ago and went back light in 6 weeks. I have a Huge surgery coming up, both hips at once:( and I am trying to put it off as long as possible so I can get as strong as I can before I go in.. I would talk to your pt and see what they want you to do....then do just a tiny bit more. The PT's I've had are way to easy and treat me like I'm frail.
