is a plateau inevitable?

If your weightloss slowed, when did it happen? Is there a certain amount of weight usually lost at this point, or is it when you get to a certain body weight, or body fat percentage?

So far I've been losing steadily (not that I'm complaining!), but I feel like I'm constantly thinking of that seemingly inevitable stall.

No it's not. I've never experienced one and I haven't seen any studies that confirms it even happens.......hormonal dysfunction aside.

it's not inevitable, but it does happen. leptin levels drop when you're in caloric deficit for an extended period of time, and this downregulation slows your BMR. just how significant that effect is, and how long it takes to happen will vary from person-to-person. scheduled refeed days can help to overcome this issue.

Nearly 30 lbs loss for me and I have yet to hit a serious plateau. I was stuck at 162 for like a week and a half, but I don't really consider that one.

You can avoid them for the most part by taking regularly scheduled maintenance diet-breaks where you eat at maintenance for 10-14 days. Sometimes they happen anyway, and usually the solution is still taking a maintenance break.

However, it's important to note that a plateau is 4+ weeks of stall, not two weeks and freak out.

Hai. I get one after every 5-10 lbs lost.

I started losing weight mid January this year. I wanted to lose 30 pounds. I lost 25 pounds by June, but haven't been able to lose the last 5. I am at a healthy weight; I just want to lose a little more fat. I've been at a plateau for 3 months now.

Every time I stop eating at a deficit, I plateau. My solution each time was to eat less. That's me though. I've not had any mysterious unexplained plateaus yet.
