Hello and Good Morning to you all.
I'm a newbie to MFP but not to dieting. Been "dieting" for???? Well let's see, probably 20 years now. I have been a yoyo for way too long. I lose and gain it all back; lose again and....well you know the story. So why is today different? I'm really tired of being lazy and fat. My cholesterol is really not good, even with medication. I'm in a rut that I can't seem to or don't wanna get out of. Winter is a coming and with it all the holidays and such. My jeans from last year no longer fit. So unless I want to go out and buy yet another round of jeans I'd better get a move on. All my shirts are a little tight too so I'm stuck wearing t-shirts. It's pretty mopey looking and doesn't help the self-esteem much. Yes I hate the way I look. I went to the doc last year about this time for knee pain and found out I have arthritis. REALLY??? Already??? Some days I have little to no pain and some days I can hardly move at all. I'm hoping that losing weight and eating healthier will help not only my cholesterol but also my knees.
A little bit about myself: I'm 41 and have been happily married for 19 years. We have a 14 year old daughter. She just started driving this year. I always love when she enters a new phase in her life. She's a pretty good driver too and I like to just sit back and enjoy the ride and conversation. Although this also means she is growing up and the next time I turn around she will be off on her own. :ohwell: I also have two dogs; an aussie mix and a weenie dog; and a very sassy cat. My hobbies are photography (which I'm terrible at), camping (in an RV), and just sitting and watching nature. I use to take nature walks all the time but now my knees just won't allow it.
I hope to find a lot of new friends here.

Hello.. I am new to MFP as well.. My name is Julie and I am 39 and have just had bariatric surgery. This is not a end all be all kind of thing I am finding out.. it is merely a tool. I still have to watch what I eat, and still have to vigorously excercise. Just want some tips after I am back into the regular eating stage. I have a book with stages of "diets" I should be at.. but still have many questions. I am using this site mainly as a protein/calorie/fitness tracker. Has anyone else out there had this surgery or able to offer any tips at this point?
I had the surgery 2 weeks ago, and have lost 19lbs so far. Been walking/running on treadmill every day.. except for 2 and at this point have moved into the Pureed section of my diet. This is the point where I am kind of struggling. Well I hope to be able to talk to you all and good luck to all of you in your weight loss.
