Calories in MFP Help

Hi All
Can someone help me with understanding MFP. When I first signed up it said I needed to do 1200 calories. So I started with that. I have been trying to run/walk 5X's a week (doing the running program on The Guardian and currently on week 3 going to start week 4 at the end of the week). A month ago I was doing no exercise and just sitting around everyday working on a PC and eating poorly (which I am getting better at). Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed my appetite has decreased and I was struggling with the 1200 calories. Today I did my BMR and how many calories my body needs:
BMR=1600
1.375 * 1600=2200 Maintain Current Weight
My question:
In the MFP the bare minimum calories should be the 1600, correct. I then subtract the 500 calories from the 2200 to be where I want to lose some weight (roughly 1700 calories plus any I gain working out).
Thanks for validating this for me.

When you signed up your were doing no exercise and 1200 is the minimum MFP set for a sedentary lifestyle. You need to go back into your goals and rest your allowance to take into account the exercise you are doing. If you KNOW you need 1700 calories then manually set that as your daily total. You also need to USE your daily total whatever it is.0 -
thanks so much0
