TORTURE Food Shows

Hi, Before I started this diet I would watch the food network infrequently. Since I've been on this diet, which is only 30 days now, I watch several hours of food shows a week. I can't stop watching these shows. All the food I can't have, that looks so amazing. I don't know why I torture myself like this but I can't stop. Is there anyone else out there as screwed up as me?

I really like Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, also Man VS Food.

I like watching food shows like Chopped and other gourmet type stuff. It makes everything I have in the house look like crap compared to the amazing food they cook, and I can't afford the good stuff so my appetite shuts right up, or I satiate it with a nice glass of red wine.

I am addicted to the food network!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE watching it all. I have only been on here a week or so, but this new 'game' I started is that I watch what they make and try to figure out a version that I can eat and still be healthy. It's hard when Paula Deen is cooking with stickS of butter and cups of cream etc. I love to eat, the things they make look delicious, I try to make mine in a similar style- but healthier.

    Good luck to you!!

    It posted twice.... ???

    Have a terrific day!

    :drinker: cheers
  • I have Food Network on while I'm on the treadmill or elliptical. Volume is muted and I am listening to music on my IPod but it gives me something to look at without having to know what is going on. The shows that are on during my workouts are Paula Dean and Rachel Ray. Paula Dean makes NOTHING healthy!!!!!

I'm watching Diner Drive-thru and Dives right now!

Oh Lord... don't even get me started on Man vs. Food! I literally find myself salivating every time that I watch that show. I mean, come on- burritos that are two feet in length and covered in cheese? That's my own personal heaven! To be honest, every thing on the Food Network/food shows on the Travel Channel leaves me desperate for more. It's torture, but I simply cannot stop myself... it almost feels sadistic!

I wish you the best of luck on your diet! :)
  • I looooooove Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives too!! As much as I would love to eat food like that, all I have to do is take good hard looks at Guy Fieri's physique and be reminded why he looks the way he does

Imagine if it IS your profession. I have food around me constantly 8-9 hours a day. I get temptations between that and the fact that I have male coworkers(they eat anything and everything). It makes being on a diet and being a chef almost impossible

I am a huge foodie! This is one of the only stations that I watch. It inspires me to make something like they are - but healthy - and still tasty! I love food - and it doesn't have to be bad for you to taste good.
