I was looking at protein bars in the supermarket today and I was just wondering what are people's preferences for them so that it gives me some sort of idea

Yup. Quest Bars.0

Some quest are very good but a bit expensive. I use them as occasional meal replacements.
For cheap between meals bars, I use either pure protein or detour lower sugar. You can buy a box of them at the wholesale clubs for less than $1 each.0 -
Quest bars are my favorite as well. Sometimes I like to change things up and try new ones. I also like Clif Builders bars, the Simply bar, Zone bars... lots of others. But nothing beats Quest in terms of the calorie/macro breakdown.0

This and they have a good selection.0

If you're up for a bit of a cooking challenge, granola and protein bars are easier to make than most meals:

Quest bars tend to give me GI problems, but the taste was ok. I like the Luna Protein bars, Oh Yeah! bars. If you don't have a problem with artificial sweeteners, the Bariwise bars at DietDirect.com are pretty good.0

I have not tried Quest, but I do LOVE Vector bars... the chocolate chip ones... mmmmm0

I have yet to try Quest bars - but everyone swears by them. I like Balance Bars and Zone Perfect because both have the macro breakdown I am looking for. 40/30/30
Plus they taste yummy :-)0 -
Just a heads up here.- Whey protein can cause a spike in blood glucose which leads to insulin release to cram that sugar into storage. I am not diabetic but I have a glucometer and check my glucose when I eat something questionable. I know the Quest bars are low carb and I have not checked my glucose response to them yet but most protein bars will put weight on me fast! I try to stick with real food for my protein needs.0

Pure Protein is my favorite. Chocolate Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip are delish!0

Quest Bars > all the rest0

Questbars average about 14g of dietary fiber, which in turn will keep insulin low.0 -

Out of interest id like to know what gives it so much fiber ... Added psyllium husk??
Seems too good to be good if that makes sense0 -

Hands down Quest bars are also my favorite... One VERY important thing to note though is that they taste much better if you microwave them for like 10-12 seconds. To think I almost gave up on them when I ate my first one (without heating) and was a bit dissapointed... Wondered what all of the hype was about.
My favorite flavors are Chocolate Cookie Dough, Vanilla almond crunch and Apple pie.
Before this .. my favorite brand was the Oh-Yeah bars. .. I still get them now and then when my macros allow it.0 -
Just finished a lemon cream pie Quest.0

IMO Fiber (Isomaltooligosaccharide)
In order for Quest Bars to be usable as a complete meal, we wanted to ensure that they contained enough fiber to really matter. Almost every ounce of carbohydrate in our bars comes from fiber, which will keep your insulin levels low and your stomach satisfied. Fiber has been shown to do many things such as controlling hunger, improving digestive health and preventing certain diseases.
IMO is a 100% natural fiber derived from plant sources that is very similar to the better known chicory root fiber. The two fiber sources are almost identical in taste, feel and texture but with one minor exception: IMO does not cause any intestinal upset whatsoever even for people with very sensitive stomachs. We use it to make sure that Quest bars can be complete meals for use whenever you want something convenient.0 -
I get my protein bars from diet direct and so far my favorite is protidiet's chocolate wafer and wonderslims zesty lemon bar.0

thank you everyone for your thoughts the reason i ask is that i didn't get a chance to eat until 2-30pm yesterday afternoon so i thought i would grab a protein bar didn't realise there were so many choices at the supermarket so i just grabbed some chobani yoghurt instead0

My favorite are Cliff Builders protein bars0

I like the Met-Rx .. creamy cookie crisp and the choc, choc chunk and have only had one apple pie quest bar...was good too.0

I haven't tried many yet but I really liked the Kind Almond & Coconut and the Lara Bar flavors Apple Pie & Cherry pie. I don't really care for the Lara Bar chocolate or dessert flavors.
I want to try some of the Quest bar flavors next.0
