Do I need to take "EXERCISE" into account for MFP?

When calculating my TDEE/HBE it asks for my level of physical activity. If that is the case then why would I need to add the "EXERCISE" portion into MFP. Isn't it already factored when calculating the TDEE?

Myfitnesspal is not a TDEE calculator, it's a NEAT calculator. The number it gives you is what it calculated to be the calories you burn doing non-exercise related activities, minus/plus the amount of calories necessary to create the deficit/surplus you desire. Then any exercise you do needs to be accounted for with increased food intake. If you wish to operate under the TDEE method, use a TDEE calculator online, put the intake it gives you into MFP (by going to "goals" and setting custom goals), and don't log exercise (or log it as one calorie burned if you want to still keep a record of your workouts).

So let me see if I got this..

I checked my TDEE (plugged in my stats) and HBE..and the number is almost identical (TDEE = 2697, HBE = 2698.116) ..is TDEE the same as HBE?

    1. So using the TDEE (or HBE?), I can consume 2700 (to make it easy) cal. to maintain my current weight.

    2. There are 3500 cal. in 1 pound and you need to shed 3500 cal/week. to lose 1 lb./week. This comes out to 500 cal./day (500 X 7 = 3500)

    3. Thus, I can confidently eat 2700 cal./day and do my exercise (500 cal./workout, according to my HRM)

    4. I will lose 1lb. per week

    Is this correct?

    your calculations correct.

although you may have to temper the "with confidence" part.

If you are plugging your exercise into the TDEE calculator accurately, then it already accounts for your exercise. You would eat 500 below the number it gives you, or 2200. This is assuming though that you put in that you exercise 5-7 days a week.

I reference HBE as the Harris-Benedict Equation..which I'm seeing is what the TDEE is..sorry to sound "dumb"..just figuring this out now..hurray!
