I was totally starving all day despite eating lots of food (including fruit and veggies) today. Yesterday was a normal day and i was just under my calories too. But I think it's cos it's almost that time of the month. Does this happen to anybody else?

Yup. I definitely feel hungrier when it's my TOM. Hormones and all that jazz.0

I don't know if I am genuinely hungrier at that time of the month.... but I definitely crave more and find it harder to finish under my calorie goal. I sometimes just go for a long walk and the easy exercise does seem to help me a bit with cramps and gives me a couple of hundred more calories to eat.0

Yes, I do. I eat and eat and eat the day before, then feel so sick and crampy for the following 36 hours that food never crosses my mind. I think it's my body's way of stocking up for the leaner times ahead. I learned yesterday that the levels of hormones in my body could affect the amount of pain I'm getting from whiplash. Well, I never knew that! Hormones? If I could get my hands on the rascals, I'd hold them to ransom!0

Sort of. That said, when I was losing early on I found that if I fought hard and stuck to my calorie goals during my period I always had a good loss the following week.0

about two days before I start it's like a have a hollow leg!0

i usually crave eggs and chocolate which i've always presumed is my body's way of saying stock up on protein and iron. i try not to overdo the chocolate.0

I get mega munchies when I would be due on (I have a coil so rarely actually have the period but still get the cycle). I find i just have to be restrained and not eat evrything in sight that isnt nailed down. haha.0

YES! But not 'at that time' but maybe a few days before.0
-
Yes extreeemlllyyy! I can really tell cause I start craving sweets and chipswhich I usually dont.0

Yeah, I definitely am hungrier. Less satisfied even after just eating. However, if I stick to my goals pretty well, even though I'll gain a bit (water) during that week, the following week everything levels out and I tend to see a greater than normal loss. Haven't figured out yet how to not be hungry (I always eat protein, fat, and fiber, and lots of veggie "fillers"), but I guess it's worth seeing the progress afterward.0

I get hungry, but more often I get the world's worst sweet tooth. Hubby knows when it's near because I get on a baking kick.0

You mean lunch time?

Yep! Mostly for sweeties though, so I get some lunchbox Kit-Kats (2 bars each instead of 4 and only 107 kcals). Just one will curb the sugar craving nicely!0

2 weeks before Im at my hungriest and heaviest on the scale! everything settles down when it arrives and a week after then it starts again..suckssssss!0

i ALWAYS get hungry at lunch time... and dinner time.0

Ditto to two weeks before! I find myself the most hungry and craving stuff when I'm ovulating. Right before I get it though, I need chocolate.0
-
Oh God yes. This time I was craving chips. Good ole salty, crunchy chips. I couldn't get enough of them.0

i ALWAYS get hungry at lunch time... and dinner time.
And snack time and breakfast time. And second breakfast time. And at tea time. And bedtime snack time.0 -

I am so bad at being a girl. I really thought this was going to be a thread talking about bedtime munchies. Or even munchies after ganja time. I had no idea this was another period thread until people started talking about TOM.0 -

I'm having one of those days today! I'm like a bottomless pit!0

I started getting really hungry last week. Like ravenous despite eating 1600 cals a day. Then this week "The Red Tide came in". This is new though, but I also have been keto-ing for almost three months now. The change in eating could have contributed to this new PMS-y feeling.0

yep.i choose to drink.0

Nope. You really are the only one.0

I think everyone gets hungry days regardless of TOM or any other reason. I'm sure men have days when they are starving. Women have learned to associate their periods with all the horrible things our mothers and friends tell us about.
I had a partial hysterectomy at 28. I'd always blamed this, that and something else on my period. I realized within a few months of surgery that I no longer knew when that time was but I still had my ovaries and the whole cycle was still happening. I had days I was more hungry than others, days I had a headache, days that I felt crampy, etc but they were just days. Sometimes it's too easy to fall into the idea of it being TOM so I can blame that and over eat or eat junk or lay on the couch.
I assume at 56 that I've probably now gone through menopause but I really don't know. I've had times I couldn't sleep, times I felt too warm for no reason, etc but I still have nothing to gauge it by so they're just times I don't feel so great.0 -
You mean the late afternoon sleepy munchies?
Absolutely! I haaaaate that!
I always have to grab a little something to eat with my coffee.
I am so glad that we're all here for the same reason. :flowerforyou:0 -
Nope. You really are the only one.
Yeah. Maybe you have a tapeworm or something. You should ask your doctor what could be going on.0 -
Not me. I am usually so uncomfortable with all the pain and jazz, eating is not so much on my mind..it sucks!0
