Measuring Snacks out by Serving Size

So I just went through my kitchen and tried to measure out all the snacks I grab on the run into correct serving sizes with my scale, then I put them in labeled ziplock bags. I think this will really help, since I know that my idea of a serving of something yummy probably isn't super accurate. I'm pumped!

  • That's a great idea. I usually stop and weigh each item as I grab it, but it is convenient to have them already portioned out. I did purchase a new digital scale (Perfect Portions) and am excited to be weighing everything. My old scale was analog and I would say not entirely the most accurate. This digital one rocks!
  • Good idea! I need to do this with my almonds and cashews.

I just did that! I think it's a great idea!!! That way, you can hurry and eat something premeasured before you're tempted to made a bad choice.

Yep, that's exactly what I do. I use my scale to measure EVERYTHING. I know, I'm a bit OCD but it has worked for me!!
  • I do this with cereal for sure! It's just kind of become second nature for me to pour milk into a measuring cup before putting it in my cereal or coffee or something. Very eye opening!

Way to go! I measure and weigh absolutely everything, it is what got me down to my goal weight and has keep me there for the last 6 months of maintenance. At first it was a little shocking to see what a serving size really is, but now it's second nature. It is more time consuming than just throwing a handful of crackers, or nuts or dried fruit in a baggie but totally worth it! Keep up the good work.
  • Thank you guys for all that positive feedback! I definitely wasn't very close on a "serving size."
