I happened upon this site while searching for something to help me keep track of my eating, I absolutley love it! I have been on here for a couple of weeks now, it is helping me keep track. I do not know if I have lost any weight yet.....mabe a pound because I don't feel as if I have lost that much because my clothes still fit the same ( my scale is at home on the other side of the island and on I'm on this side for a few weeks for work). But just feeling I am in control (somewhat) feels soooo good! I still like my beer but have really cut down to only having a few on the weekend. I really eat healthy lots of fresh fish, brown rice , fresh fruits and veggies but my problem is portion control......i often eat for comfort. But I have really taken advantage of the exercise log. I bought a bike and I go to ocean more. I don't swim but do exercises in the water. I REALLY want this to work this time........I have fought weight for most of my life. I really only have about 30 or 40 pounds to lose . I have found as I get older it is so much harder. Just turned 49 . My last comment here is the one i would like feedback on if any one has any info. I have been on antidpressants for about 23 years. With the help of a nutritionist and Dr. I have slowly decreased them. ( they had me on a very high dose and I was on 2 of them). I am down 40 mg of celexa and completely off 450 mg og wellbutrin. Anyway from research on the web it seems weight is very hard to lose after being on these meds.......any thoughts? Again so glad I found this.

Welcome to MFP! I'm jealous of your island home.
It takes a while to feel the difference in your clothes, so hopefully you will have an exciting surprise when you get home! Portion control really IS the key. We have restaurants serving us the equivalent of a meal for 4 for one person! How do we get control over that??? But beyond portion control, I've learned that loading up on the veggies and lightly on the starches has made a big difference for me.
I am on Prozac, myself, and my daughter is on Celexa, I think. I know she gained quite a bit when she first went on it, but she is here now and losing quite well. We are not on very large doses, so I don't think I can be a lot of help there, but I do want to encourage you. Even if this is hard, it is better than throwing in the towel. I know I feel a lot, lot better about myself since losing the weight that I have lost, even though I have a ways to go. I hope that all of us can help you feel better about yourself and that your journey will not be too difficult.0 -

Hi! I'm knittygirl's daughter. I am on celexa, the same dosage as you, though that has varied over the years. When my doctor put me on celexa, he said that he was putting me on an anti-depressant that tended toward losing weight. Well, I didn't. However, I don't think it was 100% because of the medicine. I've only started my weight loss journey, but so far I'm losing weight quite quickly.0
