Huge increase in appetite suddenly?

I've been successfully losing up until last month when I stalled and I've been gaining and losing the same few pounds. I'm 5'7 154-157.
Short story
Did tdee- 20% and it worked but I wanted it to speed up so I went very low on the calories but then I increased them again around two weeks ago. Anyways, since the start of this week for some reason I've been thinking about food a lot and can't resist overeating at night time...I have no idea why. Is it because I re-introduced tdee-20%?
Should I increase or decrease calories?

I'd say the key words in your post areDid tdee- 20% and it worked
If it were me, I'd go back to that (or maybe rerun my numbers to see if anything has changed since you first started it) - and stay with it this time. It was working for ya, it works great for me, and for many many many other MFPers.
Eat the cals, exercise, drink water, get good rest, be patient.0 -

But the thing is I did return two weeks ago lol and it was great the first week but now this week it's like something driving me to overate way above tdee- 20%...could it be my body self adjusting or something0 -
Could be an adjustment, hard to say. How far over are you eating? Still under or at TDEE? How long did you eat the lower amount of cals to try and speed things up?0

I went from 1700 to 1200 for a month and about 2-3 weeks ago back to 1700-1800. I can finish the day at 1700 for a day or two but by the third I can't fall asleep without 2300 and up. Probably only a couple hundred above tdee.0

Dude, I'm a 45 year old woman and I eat 1900 cals a day.
Maybe set your goal at TDEE for a week or two, and slowly wean yourself back down to a cut of 15-20% off TDEE. By your ticker on your profile, you've only got 20lbs to go, so slow and steady is what you're facing now, but it's totally worth it.
What's your exercise like and what are your goals? Losing fat, gaining strength, building muscle or what? Looking at your numbers, you're about the same height as me, and you're looking to weight the same....0 -
I'm a 5'4" 39 yr old woman and I can eat 1800 calories and still lose fat. Eat more and make sure you're eating plenty of protein. It helps to keep you satisfied and you'll deal with less cravings. Yes, you may lose at at a slower rate but at least you'll be losing. If you binge often you may be eating away your deficit. I don't think it's your body adjusting. I think your deficit is too big.
Slow and steady wins the race.0 -

Yea, I think I'll eat at tdee for a week or 2 and than perhaps create a smaller deficit. Thanks0 -

Thanks, I'll probably reduce my deficit and see if it works.0 -
Make sure you weigh all your food as well, and don't overestimate your activity.0

I suggest eating more high fiber items. it stabilizes blood sugar. sometimes i have to eat a quest protein bar before bed. it has 20 grams of protein and 20 grams of fiber.0
