drinking booze/happy hour help

So this has happened to me twice this week. HAPPY HOUR! I have been really good about not keeping wine or beer in my house because I love to drink...and if I'm at home with nothing, I'm usually too lazy to go buy anything. That works for me.
I have gone to 2 happy hours this week and they have both turned into binge drinking and eating with buddies (my diary is open to friends). What do other people do to not kill their entire week with drinking. Substitutes for beer/booze, bar food etc. It's such a bummer but I know I will be partying with a visiting friend next week, then my mom is coming for a visit and we will want to go out to eat and drink, then i have my bday shortly after. What do I do, any advice would be helpful. I don't want to undo what I have already and possibly keep losing, if I stay the same, I will lose motivation because I still have about 30 lbs to go.
Thanks in advance!

It comes down to you either wanting it or not. Either bust your *kitten* training and eating right all week to hopefully make up for the binge or just learn control and drink and have food on the night in moderation.0

It all comes down to calories in-calories out. The obvious answer is to not eat and drink to excess. You can't binge eat and drink on a regular basis and expect to continue losing weight, or even stay at the same weight. It's as simple as that. Enjoy the social aspect with your friends and mom but limit your intake and/or offset some of it with extra exercise.0

Have one Vodka tonic with lime. Make it diet tonic. It has about 70 kcals in it and about 16g of carbs. It is lots of carbs but is a better alternative than binge eating or drinking. So you only get one! Skip the food and find the nuts at the bar!! Win win all around!! Get to hang out with friends and have a drink and eat some healthy nuts if you get hungry!! If you cannot handle it and are really binge drinking you need to stay out of the bar!! Not a healthy lifestyle!! Ask your friends to meet you at a coffee house with music instead!0

I don't know if this helps, but when I was in college and losing weight (now, I was in my early 20s too, so I'm sure that helped), but I would eat right and sweat my butt off at the gym during the week, and not track the drinks on the weekend. I would usually drink rum & diet coke vs my preferred beer, but doing in doing this I still lose consistently.0

Thanks for the alternative. We go out to BWW every Tuesday after we all play volleyball which is after I go to the gym and I always pass on beer and look at what my food cals are before I order so I know I'm not going over. Not sure if I had the slip ups because I haven't been drinking? These happy hours were both with work people immediately after work, so maybe I just need to ditch on these with them for a while and just go to the gym? The gym did not happen after happy hour...it turned into drinking all night, a bunch of us came back to my place and were up till about 3:30/4.0 -

I def need to kick myself out of this now! I used to eat and drink like this all the time and that is how I gained the wieght...beer and late night crappy food. I'm glad I can get the support I need here..thanks! Sometimes someone else telling you "you're doing it wrong" is what you need.0 -
My rule is to pre plan my drinks and to workout to burn the cals prior. 4 mic ultras and 1 double makers mark = 518 calories. There is my motivation to hit the 5k hard.
I wanna play? I gotta pay.
Also, try drinking a glass of water after each drink. That will slow down the calorie intake a bit.
No advice for the bar munchies... Besides just don't do it? Lol.0 -
Sometimes I do pay before I play...these were spontaneous after work when we all opened (retail). I should keep this in mind for the upcoming coming week and have what I'm already gonna drink decided (much like meals), this should help, thanks!

I also like to drink, and I don't know what it means to have 1 drink. I mean really, why bother. You just have to work it off and save the calories. I had 4 glasses of wine tonight and didn't go over my calories. I had a very sensible day so I felt comfortable having the wine.0
