Newbie with ME/CFS

For years I didn't care about my weight. Mainly because at the age of 15 I was diagnosed with ME/CFS, by which point I had already been bedridden for 10 months, and being larger than average was the least of my problems. But all that suddenly changed on Saturday. On Saturday I tried my wedding dress on for my mother to see and to my surprise I could not get it to fasten. I really was not expecting this as the last time I tried the dress on was only a month ago. Now I have under 2 months until the big day and need to lose weight quickly. Unfortunately, although my condition is much improved I still cannot exercise as intensively as most people. In fact the most strenuous activity I can do is walk briskly and even that I cannot do for any real length of time. Basically I need some advice. I am trying to cut down my food intake and eat healthier, and I am walking to work, but I do not know how long I can keep it up as it is only Monday and I am collapsed on the sofa after work unable to get back up.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

PT

P.S. The picture is a picture of how my wedding dress is supposed to look for motivation purposes

  • Hello! Okay.. this topic has been here a while but nobody has commented...
I was diagnosed at 15 too! Fell really ill at 14, didn't do my GCSEs cus I was bedbound D:
Yoga is good. It's gentle and slow, you can make it as easy or as intense as you want. There is a free app on android that is awesome that gives you full 10-15 minute "work outs" and I like to do one of those and then some starjumps if I'm having a good day or something and then cool down with some more yoga. I feel your pain. Pacing is so important. I stop inbetween tasks and break everything down. Eg, cleaning the bathroom? Break the whole room in to indiviudual parts. Clean the toilet, clean the basin, clean the tub/shower, clean the walls, clean the skirting boards and clean the floor instead of just, clean the bathroom. I try and break EVERYTHING down like this, though bathroom was the easiest example, and I'm finding myself getting through the day a lot easier and it feels like I'm doing less, but it turns out.. I'm doing more! I hope this helps x
