Isagenix?

Hello!
I joined MFP 11 months ago. I have logged in the majority of those days with the exception of about 6 weeks where I just stopped. I got back on and log my food every day but haven't taken advantage of the support MFP can provide, I just logged on from my phone to log my food. I try to stay within 1200 calories a day and under 30 grams of fat but I've actually gained weight over the year. This week I started Isagenix because a few of my Facebook friends have had success. I am on day 4 and have lost 2 pounds. Has anyone done this system or is anyone doing this system?

    Hi

I am not an Isagenix user

I found this link about Isagenix

    http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/isagenix-study-is-not-convincing/

    I would not touch it

I am 10 days into Isagenix, I just did a 2 day body cleanse. The cleanse left me 4.5 lbs lighter and 4.5 inches less all around. Total, in 10 days I've lost 8.5 lbs and 6 inches. I find that isagnix curbs my appetite and gives me SO much energy and improves my mood. So, don't read one crappy article and make up your mind.
  • EHarris, WOW! Good for you! I am going to attempt a cleanse day tomorrow. Do you have any suggestions as to how to get through??

Follow the schedule to the letter! http://media01.isagenix.com/corporate/ww/pdfs/Shake-Cleanse-Planner.pdf
Make sure you have the isagenix snacks and the chocolates.
BE STRONG! You can TOTALLY do it. :) I love love LOVE food and on my second cleanse day, I didn't even realize that I was cleansing. If you're doing one day, it will be easy peasy :)

There is another thread on this subject:

I've never used the product and I'm not planning on using it.

8.5lbs of fat calories would be 29,750. That would mean that you had to be in 2975 deficit calories per day...........................yeah probably not. But water weight.............absolutely. That's the actual numbers not crap. Guaranteed you don't see a 16lbs loss in 20 days, but if you do, then you're doing it wrong for safe weight loss.

No such thing as "cleansing". Realize that all one is doing is calorie deficit and reduction in sodium to lose water weight.

:flowerforyou: I followed the Isagenix program faithfully in 2009 and lost over 60 pounds in about nine months. I continue to use the products and have maintained my loss since then. My energy level has increased and my health continues to be excellent. I love Isagenix and can't imagine my life without it.

:flowerforyou: don't let the skeptics and scoffers discourage you.

    In before the lock.
  • Sorry i dont use this product or any product. MFP works if you use it. I use it to track food and log excersices for me. I have lost 80 lbs in a 3 and a half months because the only secret is eating a right as possible and putting in the work on you body.
  • Thank you Barbie Cat!
    And congratulations on your loss!

You know...There are scoffers with any program. But if it works for some and make them feel better why do others feel the need to act superior?? Like what works for them is better for everyone! We are all on here for the same goal but there are very different ways to get to that goal. I still use MFP every day and watch my calories/fat/carbohydrates and protein breakdown. Why does it seem to bother people that I and others try a system??

And there is nothing wrong with cleansing or fasting every so often. It does energize people. I did a 10-day juice fast once and felt fabulous!

I'll never understand why people feel the need to judge.
  • EHarris, I have the hourly by hour plan and am ready. I am shooting for one day but maybe I'll be able to do 2. I'm not working right now, lost my job last month, so being home all day its hard not to eat all day but I'm going to try!!

    Thanks for your encouragement!!

It's not scoffing when actual scientific evidence hasn't shown that "cleansing" has any other effect than a calorie deficit. On a public forum, people who get desperate will do programs that may be expensive and get the same exact results as just doing calorie deficit without having to fork out extra money.
Being in the business for a good amount of years, programs sold as "the way" all have the same thing in common......calorie deficit. There's no secret to weight loss. I've seen my share of "magic" programs and as I've stated before, 90% of those who take it on fail in the long run because it's usually not a lifestyle change, but just a temporary eating change. Choosing to do it with this program is a choice you care to take on. But letting the public know that the ANY dieting program isn't really needed and extra money doesn't need to be spent is just being informational to those who really may want to know. Especially if the 30 day program is $269.00

Plus I thought there was only a set amount of weight a person can lose per week before it becomes both fat and muscle being lost? 8.5lbs in ten days is either a lot of water weight or you saying goodbye to some muscle too, IMO.

Yes. Please save your money. Cleanses are completely unneccessary. Do some research first. Here's a great link from the Eat, Train, Progress group on cleanses. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/821828-detoxes-and-cleanses
  • Cindy,
Isagenix is more than a diet or just a cleanse. There are lots of supplements, and I just don't mean vitamins, I am not using their daily packs of vitamins since I take specific ones. But there are supplements meant to promote a feeling of well being and have you feel less stress. This is much more than diet deficit. I've been on this program 5 days and have only lost 1 pound but I feel better! I feel actually energetic when last week I was like a lump on the couch.
I started this post to get opinions of people who have used the program, not people who want to tell me I can do it myself. I have 15 pounds to lose so if I want to spend some money because just plain calorie deficit isn't working plus I couldn't get off the couch because even eating my vegetarian organic diet didn't have me feeling good then why do you feel the need to tell me I'm wasting my money. Maybe I will be but unless you've used the system then your opinion wasn't exactly the one I was seeking.

Absolutely. You are an adult and are free to choose as you like. But this is a public forum and other people reading this may want to see other opinions and read the research associated with such products.

It's funny... I've never heard of people scoffing at eating a balanced diet at a modest deficit and getting some exercise?

The response I gave was in rebuttal of a "cleanse". As mentioned, there's no journal of medicine or science with peer review that backs that "cleanses" actually work. You can believe it if you'd like, but again passing on correct information is the point I was making.
