Any Veggie Anemic's? - What do you eat?

Morning,

I've previously suffered from amenia and unfortunately my iron levels have dropped right down again, I'm a frequent exerciser and have a race coming up soon so I need all the energy/strength I can get.

What I'm after is some inspiration/idea's on how fellow veggies (or none veggies) eat to increase iron levels?

I adore leafy greens, I'm in maintenance so not overly worried about calories but just wondered if there was something I could be missing/adding to my diet?

Many thanks

Unsweetened Cacao powder has an amazing amount of iron. I add it to smoothies to up my iron intake.

Back when I ate meat, I was borderline anemic. Once I went vegetarian, my iron levels increased because I was so focused on my iron levels not getting worse.

Foods I eat for iron - lentils, quinoa, oatmeal, beans, whole wheat pasta, leafy greens. Those are all staples in my diet and factor in it every day. I keep meat substitutes like Veggie Patch Buffalo Wings or Amy's Organic Burritos on hand for the days when I haven't been able to manage my diet well.

For me what I think the key has been is taking vitamin c with my meals that are iron heavy. Vitamin c helps the body increase it's absorption of iron. Calcium does the opposite.
