Low carb, high proten diet - what to eat?

Hello everyone,
So I reached a plateau with my weight a few months ago and wanted to make a change to kickstart my weight loss again.
About 2.5 weeks ago I started a low carb diet. I have been aiming for less than 30g of carbs a day. Since I started I have lost about 3lbs which I'm really pleased with. I have ketostix to help measure when I'm in ketosis and burning fat which helps for motivation.
My only problem has been actually finding things I can eat. My calorie allowance a day is set to 1200 and most days I am under this as I can't seem to find things I can, or want to eat that are low carb. I go running and to the gym about 4/5 times a week so I'm trying to eat a lot of protein too to help build muscle. I read an article yesterday that said I should set my percentages at 65 fat, 30 protein and 5 carbs which has now left me with 17g of carbs a day which is obviously going to be more difficult to stick to (have just put my breakfast and what I'm having for lunch in and have already gone over).
I was wondering if anyone had any tips for low carb foods - snacks are what I particularly struggle with and even after only 2.5 weeks I am getting a bit sick of chicken! Also if anyone else is doing a similar diet and we can be friends on here so I can get some food inspiration that would be amazing! At the moment I am eating the same thing most days and I am worried I am going to get very bored very soon!
Thanks
Rosie

^Fish, meats (red as well, not just chicken), eggs, and fill yourself up on veggies rather than bread, pasta etc.0

Lose the bagel and muffin for starters.
Eat more fat - avoid chicken breast and other skinny stuff that is high in protein but contains little else.
A few almonds or walnuts (10 - 15), 20g of cheese or a pepparami stick can be used as a snack, if you feel you need one.0 -
Thanks guys. My low carb, high protein book recommended a slice of bread or half a bagel or muffin a day but I certainly won't be able to do that on 15g on carbs and I have found that slowed down my weight loss too so I'm off that now. What would you recommend for low carb but high fat foods - which meats are good for that if chicken isn't?
I'm loving my cheese sticks and pepperami but still feeling starving by the time I get home. I read an article recently that said that the amazing thing about a low carb diet is that you don't have to go hungry but I feel hungry all the time! I think I'm not making the right choices but I'm finding it difficult to know what else to eat...0 -
Check out Mark's Daily Apple (www.marksdailyapple.com). It's a good website for "primal" eating (high protein, low carb).0

If you're doing keto, figure your carb allowance by *net* carbs (carbs - fiber = Net Carbs)
I regularly get under net 20-30carbs a day (my diary is open)
If you're hungry, be sure you're getting your carbs from leafy green vegetables, stay close to your protein & fat goals.
My macros are currently 73/20/7 fat/protein/carbs and I've been doing keto for 3.5 months. I don't get super hungry very often so it's easy to stay at my calorie goal. (And some days I barely have an appetite!)

Heres the diet I am doing and what you need to be eating:
*Very Lean 35calories per ounce- (If you are hungry I recommend these because you can eat more of it)
Canadian bacon
Chicken- white meat, skinless
Cod Fish
Cornish Hen- Skinless
Deli meats (turkey, ham, chicken etc. Look at nutritious facts 1st)
Egg Whites-2
Flounder
Ground Turkey
Grouper
Halibut
Shellfish (crab, shrimp, crayfish etc.)
Tilapia
Trout
Tuna
Turkey, white no skin
*Lean 55 cals:
Lean Beef
Dark chicken w/ no skin
Herring
Lamb
Pork
Salmon
Dark Turkey no skin
Turkey bacon
Veal
*Medium-75cals:
corned beef
egg
ground beef
ground turkey
prime rib
short ribs
veal
There are also many veggies you can eat, before selecting one put it in on here to see how many carbs are in it because some are high in carbs and will use up your daily limit quick.
For dessert I have been making my own pop-cycles with crystal light, sugar free jell-o. Low fat whip cream.
If a food has a nutrition label- look at it before buying! Also always try going for the leanest foods possible. Unless you are full and need to reach a certain number of calories- then I try to fit in the medium meat to reach the goal.
..........hope this helps:flowerforyou:0
