Question about calories

Hi! I'M 5'3'' and 120 pounds. Trying to lose 8 pounds and tone up.
My daily calories intake should be 1280 according to MFP. I did the TDEE thingy and I burn about 2000 calories in a day (BMR and daily activities)
I burn about 350 extra calories a day exercising.
I did the 2000-20% = 1680
But I seem to just be eating 1500 caloriesa day. Is that a bad thing.
I'm trying to understand all of this. Confusing...

Why not just give yourself a range of 1400-1700. Honestly, to me 1500 on most days sounds fine for what you stated.0

Thanks... that's a good idea0

Not a bad idea for a goal. Give it 4-6 weeks before you change afterwards though..
also, freakin HIGH FIVE for actually doing some research before posting the question. WAY too many people don't even bother. So seriously, I personally appreciate the footwork.
Good luck.0 -
That all looks right. If you look at MFP and it says 1280 and most days you are burning 350 calories, then you should be eating back your burned calories and eat 1630/day. And if you look at your TDEE-20% is 1680, then they are both right about the same thing. You should be fine between 1500-1700 calories a day. The last poster is right, watch it for 4-6 weeks and see how it is.0

Thanks! I'll give it a try and see how it goes!0

If you are coming to a website like this for help, why are you not doing what it's suggesting?0 -
Because I'm new to this. And I want to make sure I'm doing the right things. Thank you.0

So you've got 2 recommendations - one says to eat 1280 and the other says to eat 1680.
Both are right. It just comes down to which method you wan tto follow.0
