Torn lower stomach muscle

Hi,
I have been exercising and seemed to have torn a muscle in my lower abdomen and it hurts even when I jog. Doc says 6 - 8 weeks rest. Any ideas what cardio exercise I can do without putting me out for longer?

    I would say none, until you get further instruction of what is safe from your doctor.

    You don't want to do anything right now that will make it worse.

    If you really, really want to do some exercise, I would say go for a slow walk. But if it starts to hurt STOP!!

    Spend the next 6 weeks eating right to help you maintain your current weight and resting. At some point your doctor might suggest physical therapy, which will help you strengthen the muscle as it heals, but in the meantime, don't do anything that could make the injury worse and your recovery time longer.

    Think you have confirmed what I really knew but hoped was wrong. Thanks for the feedback. Really used the exercise to allow more food intake so will have to try extra hard for a while. Once again, thanks.

    I admire you for even wanting to try exercise, because a torn stomach muscle sounds like it must be really painful!

    Yep, mot of the time when you are resting its OK and you dont notice. Just when you move :)
