I am going crazy with numbers

:noway: I am getting obsessed with numbers. Be it weighing scales, measurements, calories in and out, distance, speed time. I just cant get them out of my head. I am calculating them 24/7 and just cant get them off my head. Does any one else face this? What did you do to over come it? I am considering consulting a dietician as I would get an expert advice on all my dobuts and may be I will be less bothered about the numbers!!:explode:

Yes, but to be honest I rather enjoy it. It makes me feel like I am in control of my choices.0

Take the week off of logging and focus on more important things.0

I second this comment, which reflects my experience. I feel in control because I have a much better understanding on where I'm at in my health and reinforces my commitment (and I enjoy mental arithmetic too).0 -

I third this. I love knowing that if I make the right calculations and adjustments, I can have the foods I want. But it isn't for everyone. If you find it to be too consuming for you, I would recommend taking a SHORT break from logging and stepping on the scale. If you find you can stay consistent with healthy eating habits and after that break, have seen your weight move favorably and that you haven't completely fallen off the wagon, you may decide you prefer not to count calories. I (and most people on here) really like it, but if it's not for you it's not for you. Whatever you need to do to make your goals happen in a healthy way is what you should do. I don't know anything about dietitians or else I'd give you some advice on that. Personally I don't think seeing an expert is necessary, but to each his own.0 -
I felt the same at the beginning. After a while, I learned to have a healthy diet. Even though I still have pizza, sweets from time to time, I will watch the portion. What really got me off the calorie counting obsession was my scale. I weigh myself regularly to maintain my healthy weight. If my weight goes up, I know I got to watch my diet.0

Yes, but I love numbers, so it's okay.0

I am the same. I'm logged onto MFP several times a day. I log EVERYTHING. I use a heart rate monitor so I can log calories in and out. I'm obsessed by it lately, but I also agree with the comments above. This is the first time I've felt truly accountable for everything and I have taken an active interest in my health. The more calories I see I burn, the more I want to work out.
If you're stressing too much over it though and it's becomming a chore for you, take a few days off but still eat healthy.0 -
