Carb cravings

Does anyone else here ever experience intense cravings for carbs? I really struggle with cravings for baked goods especially (bread, muffins, cookies, etc.) that don't fit within my daily intake. How do you manage your cravings?

Usually I'll just eat something else or focus on a different task. If I really crave something carby, I'll grab a piece of fruit, like a peach or something.

And if that doesn't work? Sometimes you need to go for it.

I know I love carbs too! So, I try to make the most of my carbs (no to minimal all-white bread/pasta/rice). Instead, I go for sweet potatoes, whole grains (oats, popcorn), and make my own bread so I can pack it with nutrient-dense seeds and grains (I make my whole wheat loaf with sunflower seeds, oats, chia seeds, flax seeds, and flax seed meal). I also enjoy fruit like apples and grapes but those actually turn out to be a pretty negligible amount of my carb intake.

I am on a low carb diet and this happens to me often. I usually go for a coke zero (I know its bad :)), sunflower seeds, or string cheese. And it always does the trick.
  • I totally crave carbs too. That is why I'm overweight. Lately I've been making crisps (apple, peach, blueberry, cherry) to satisfy my carb craving. I just use oats instead of flour, half the sugar and less than half the butter in my recipes. It gives me some fruit and some carb satisfaction without a lot of calories, fat and guilt.
