How to log ....

I know this question has probably been asked loads of times, but how do you log Insanity, P90X etc and the other dvds that Shaun T has done (mainly Insanity as doing that at the moment)?
I've only done the fitness test so far and put it down as high impact aerobics but not sure that's correct. I have got a HRM, but it doesn't give calories burned so can't use that as a guide.
Oh and another question - what would you advise that I put down as my minimum and maximum heart rate on the monitor? I'm 5ft 1" and currently weigh 120lbs.
Thank you in advance.

calisthenics? what kind of HRM do you have that you have to tell it the min/max heart rate??
ETA: there is a search function up there ^^ that you could use to find similar threads0 -
I am also doing Insanity (5 days left) and what I do is use a heart rate monitor. I take the total time and use the average heart. I then use a couple of calorie calculators. As a guideline they say between 600-700 calories per workout (first month). I found this to be a little bit low but I also do weigh 270 lbs. I never bother with the minimum maximum heart rate on my watch. I actually don't really look at it to often while working out. About the only the time is when I am totally bagged and just want to see how high my heart rate is. Here is a copy of the 2 calculators that I use.

Thank you both for your advice. Heart rate monitor is called Target Fitness HRS410, money is very tight at the moment and it only cost £19.99, but the reviews were 4.5/5 which is another reason why I chose it.
After the initial dread that had to start properly today, I have enjoyed it - apart from when my cat decided to walk round and through my legs when I was doing the cool down stretches! I'm already hurting more in my legs so dread to think what I'll be like tomorrow.
Good luck with your last 5 days! :drinker:0
