Runkeeper App

I have this and I record my cycling on it as I like to know how far etc I've cycled....but how accurate is the calorie burn on it?

Its an estimation, but I'd say its close to reality since it knows how fast you were going, the distance, for how long and your body measurements. This data should be enough to provide a value close to reality.
  • I've used it for running and cycling and it seems to be pretty accurate so far. I use a body media arm band as well and I've compared the two but not a heart rate monitor (my heart rate monitor was apparently lying to me).

I wear an HRM and have only used RunKeeper twice (had been using MapMyRun but wasn't calculating correctly - makes me question all of my running accomplishments!). Anyway, yesterday RunKeeper said I burned 300 calories and HRM said 385. I am female, 5'2" and 130 lbs. Run pace was 11:30 minutes per mile for 3 miles - probably not helpful for biking, but just FYI for comparing.

I use Runkeeper, my jawbone UP, and the MFP exercise data base. I take the average of all 3 for my calorie burn. They are all usually pretty close anyway, within 50 or so calories of each other.
