New to weight loss needing some advice

I started watching my food intake, and doing walk videos with Leslie Sansone. Am down 11 lbs. since Aug 30th. The walk videos are good and challenging for me right now but I know eventually I will need to add to my walking or move on. What are some good videos/ workouts for beginners/intermediate . I am 5'2 and currently weigh 231 lbs. So I am considered obese and wear size 16 jean and 2x tops. Any suggestions???

Ive heard that fitnessblender.com has cool workouts. If you are into yoga I like the body wisdom DVDs and Tara Stiles on youtube. I have not tried it but 30Day Shred has great results but can be an intense program. I also love hula hooping, with a regular hoop you burn about 5 calories per minute and with a 3 lbs weighted hoop you burn 7 cals per minute. Good to work out your abs and hips. I also have a mini elliptical machine at home that I got off amazon.com really cheap and it burns about 300 cals in 30 minutes....

You can stick with Leslie Sansone if you enjoy that, you just up your intensity. She has various workouts where you can push yourself a little bit more. The benefit of this is it is low impact. Some strength training is helpful so that when you lose more weight, you will have a good foundation of muscles. You can add some body weight exercises, or get some resistance bands, or get into progressive strength training (but you need to have equipment at home or join a gym for that). The thing about Jillian Michaels and others like that is it is rather high impact, and you can risk injury that will make exercise harder. I did 30 Day Shred, and while I did have some results, it is rather hard on the joints, especially if your are older, or have been carrying a lot of weight for awhile.
  • Thank you! Maybe when I get some weight off I will be comfortable in a gym right now I choose to workout at home.
