Wow me - I lost .2 pounds. At this rate I will meet my goal in approximately 75 weeks! Haha - Ok but seeing the rest of you makes me want to get my butt in gear for this challenge! I've been keeping up my exercising for 1.5 - 2 hours a day, but I pigged out at a wedding this past weekend and am paying the price.
Good work Lo, Lauren, Kel, Jessyca and Kizzy on your AWESOME losses! I'm inspired. My numbers will be up (or down?) next week! :bigsmile:0 -
PS - Kristin, when you say you jog for 2 miles, I just have to ask, do you run the whole time?? I am working on it, but I'm seriously not a runner, and I can barely make it a mile. I end up walking quite a bit, but I want to run a whole 5k by this time next year (amongst other walk/run goals). I just need to know from the runners, how do you do it?? I always start out motivated to run far, but my head gets in the way and my thoughts psych me out, so I stop. I have to figure out that mental thing that runners MUST have that keep them going. Who wants to help?! :flowerforyou:0

I have discovered two things about running haha 1 ) ALWAYS easier if your in the middle of a good book! You spend almost the whole time thinking about the book and trying to finish it in your head 2) Amazing time to think about goals, not only will you feel incredible about completing a simple goal like running a mile, but you could also determine what you want your dream kitchen to look like, or start planning an amazing vacation and figure out how to afford it.
I like doing mental things that just fully envelop my mind while running. Oh and music that isnt violent is an excellent thing to run to, it puts you into a calm mental state but also can kind of put you into a trance... like when ur driving and u forget how you got home because the trip was just on auto. Hey SIxers! So I was suppose to weigh in this morning, but I woke up to a voice mail, and email, and a txt all asking me to call about an interview because I was the candidate that they had been looking for! I was super pumped so I ran so quickly out of the house my BF hardly even got a goodbye kiss. I think I got the job too! I am super pumped, life is really starting to come together here in the Keys, *knock on wood*. So I will weigh in in the morning, I am not expecting much of a loss since we still havent worked out, but its hard getting into a routine when you dont have any type of schedule!!! Doing okay with the food, but not great, We are trying, its a lot harder to eat healthy on such a strict budget...

I was so psyched when I weighed myself this morning! I have been fluctuating from 133-135 for a couple of months now, but as of last week I've been weighing in at 133-131. About time the scale moved! I think what has made the difference is doing intervals on the treadmill. I used to run anywhere from 3-4 miles, three times a week and the scale still wasn't budging. In an effort to get the scale moving, I took someone's advice and started doing intervals on the treadmill for no more than 30 mins. It looks like it's working :happy:
I didn't get a chance to introduce myself on the week 1 thread since I was one of the last one's to join you ladies. A little about me- I'm 25, work full time and recently returned to school. I'm super busy, but I try to make sure I work out 4-5 times a week. I enjoy eating healthy, but if I don't keep track of what I eat with MFP, I can easily go past my alloted calories (1200). Things can also get a little tricky at work, I work at an office with about 100 employees and every week someone brings in bagels, cupcakes or we're cutting cake because it's someone's birthday. My ultimate goal is to weigh 120, I'm only 5'1. I hope with this thread we can ALL get closer to our goals!

Oh, and I also saw a couple of people doing an October challenge. I have also taken on my own October challenge, and that is the 100 push up challenge. It goes hand-in-hand with our Hot-ober Sixers since the push up challenge is also six weeks. I started this week, I really want to see this challenge through the end. Wish me luck0

i just walked outside for about 30 mins. nice and chilly felt so good. now that i don't have my treadmill anymore, i have to find things. darn scale was up a pound this morning.
i keep getting this call from a cell phone asking me to accept charges. they will call me at least 5-10 times every morning. starting at about 7. seeing if i can block it.

Julia, I used to be in the same boat. I never was a runner. I remember when high school tennis season started up each year, our coach would make us run a 2 (or so) mile course a few times. I could never make it and thought it was such a daunting task. A few years later, when I was the heaviest I ever was (pushing 180 or so) I was going to change. In November 2005, I signed up for the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon (run in May). I started out slow. I would run at 5.2 mph on the treadmill for 3-4 minutes at a time, then walk a minute or 2 for recovery. The next week I upped the running time a bit, and a few weeks later I was able to run 4 miles without stopping to walk. Over time, I was able to increase the speed too. It DOES get easier, you just can't let yourself give up. Remember, it's OK to walk! Since 2006, I have done 6 half-marathons and 1 full marathon.
Just recently I started listening to books on tape (kinda the same as B was talking about) while I run. I just get them from the library and put them on my iPod. Makes the time go by really fast! However, I do notice that I run a bit slower since I don't have the tempo from music to run to.0 -
Good morning all! Three more days of working at the current job. I'm SO ready to be out of here, so it's going really slow... The only bad thing about me starting my new job next week is I won't be able to get on MFP during the day anymore. I'll have to find time in the morning or afternoons to chat with you ladies.
The maintenance guys are taking me out for lunch today. None of them have ever had Indian food, so we're going to an Indian buffet. I LOVE Indian food!! I find it really hard to control myself when I eat there, so today will definitely be my cheat day for the week. Plus it was my grandma's 70th birthday yesterday, and my mom and stepdad are having the family over for pizza and cake tonight after work. Since I have to go home to let the dog out, I won't have any time to hit the gym today... Calorie count is going to be astronomical, I can already tell. I think I can skip the cake, but pizza, I don't know...
Today's Plan:
B - Honey Nut Cheerios with skim milk
L - Indian Buffet - I'm guessing around 800-1000 calories
D - Pizza and cake
Workout:
Just walking the dog. I'll try to do something active while I watch Modern Family tonight (love that show!)
PS. I tried so hard to get 100 pushups in yesterday, however we did a bunch of them on Monday at my Core Camp class. I got 40 in yesterday before my pecs started screaming at me. Today, my armpits hurt really bad... Maybe I'll try again tomorrow!0 -

Okay...as far as the running goes...I have a 2 mile path I run. Last night was the first time in a long time that I have ran the whole way. And when I say "ran" I mean I go about a 10 minute mile, so it's not fast by any means. Usually I walk a block, then run a few, then walk one, etc. But it took me a long time to get to this point. I was never a runner...NEVER. I used to cheat when we had to run in school. I hated it! But then a few years ago I decided I wanted to try to get into it. I would run on the treadmill at the gym...always trying to go a little faster and a little longer than the people next to me. It was GREAT motivation! And slowly, I started to love it! Now...I usually can't wait to get home after work to get my run in! I need to extend my path, especially since I'm planning on running a 5K later this month. I should be able to finish it no problem, but I need to start working on it!
So...good luck! I'm sure you will get where you want to be...it just takes time!

I had a great night last night! Got in my shred, 2 mile run with Kadence, and then went on a 20 minute walk with Kadence in the wagon! Had a yummy dinner and only my planned snack for the evening! YAY!! I love successful nights!
Todays plan:
B-Apple Cinn Cherrios, skim milk, coffee w/sugar-free creamer
S-Banana, Chewy 90 cal bar
L-Leftover tilapia, couscous, broccoli, baby carrots, and light yogurt
S-Apple, Chewy 90 cal bar
D-Garlic butter pork loin, red potatos, carrots
S-2 reduced fat graham crackers
Exercise:
2 mile run with stroller
Shred day 20 level 3 (I'm thinking that I may start alternating between levels for the last 10 days...haven't decided yet)

It takes a really long time. I got really frustrated in the beginning because I really expected to be able to run 3 miles after 10 weeks of training. It just wasnt enough for me. It took me 10 weeks to reach a mile and about 20 weeks to reach the 3 miles point. I'm up to about five now and have enough confidence to beleive I can train to a marathon. That took about six months. Another thing, I'm really slow and I just don't care. A 12 minute mile is an accompolishment for me, I usually hover around 12.5 - 13. A big enough incline will push me right to 14. The best advice I ever received was it's only a race with yourself don't rely on 'shoulds' and always be proud of an imporvement no matter how small. Of course, there is always my mantra... Keep Moving Forward.
As far as what I think about, not much really. I just listen to the tunes and go. It's a really nice mental break for me where I'm not hung up on problems or things that need my attention. If I hit a hard incline or start to feel challenged I will often tell myself (out loud if I need it).. Susan, you're not stopping. You can move as slow as you need to, but you're not stopping and you can't go backwards. Usually it will slow me down enough to recover a bit and I just keep on going.
It really just takes time. You can do it, keep plugging at it and I bet you surprise yourself.0 -

Thank you SO much everyone who responded to my running question/statement! There were too many of you that posted for me to "quote" them all!
I keep forgetting my Ipod, but I think I'll make it a point to bring it along. I bet then I can push myself to finish a song. I never thought to get a book for it - I bet that could help too. I know it's going to be a huge achievement once I get to that running a 5k point. I haven't given up yet, but sometimes I get frustrated. Thank you for your words of encouragement! Right now I'm still outside, and won't switch to the treadmill until there is ice on the sidewalk!
I had a kind of stressful day at work today. There is someone that I am "friends" with at work, but I was always suspicious that I couldn't fully trust her so I have my guard up. Well today I let my guard down, and wouldn't you know it bit me in the butt. I just have to watch what I say around her. But on the flip side, another coworker friend of mine and I went out for a few drinks, had some great bonding time, and seem to have grown closer despite the "drama" at work. Thank goodness for small steps in the right direction.

Having a horrible time mentally. And it's showing up in my food choices, which leads to bloating, which leads to more bad feelings, which leads to more bloating...etc. You get the picture. Need to get my head back in the game. I think I'm going to take a SLEEP day. :yawn: :yawn: :yawn: Haven't slept more than 5 hours a night all week and its starting to show.

well, i am up early don't know why, just am. i want to walk outside again today, it felt good. yet, i want to go to the gym. i am feeling obligated to the gym. the outside is a want. i think a want is better.
nothing new in my neck of the woods. been trucking along.
lula....come on back. i for one know it's so hard sometimes. i haven't been sleeping well either. i have been worrying about the dog getting cold when he jumps on the bed(in the middle of the night), that i will take the covers from him. so i have been cold. cause i don't want to disturb him to pull the covers. what???? anyway sorry to get off subject. you will do great. you have battle allot lately, you can over come this too. love ya.

Lula - I dont really know what has been happening since I have been gone so long, but I do know that your a trouper, and you can make it through anything! Plus you have some super awesome people on here to support you! I know you can remember some of my rants! Missed you and *HUG* I know you will make it through whatever your going through!

julia - oh and the C25K is an awesome program, and there are a LOT of cool podcasts online that you can download and listen too while training that will give actual cues for when to run, and when to walk! Its a really cool program! My favorite is PodRunner.

So yesterday was a really good day for me! I got offered a job on the spot in two different interviews, however, they clash! They are both for my evening jobs as a hostess/waitress... which means I am going to have to tell one of them no... Which REALLY sucks, I hate turning people down.. really really really hate doing it... The BF still hasnt gotten called in for any interviews which is crazy because he has WAY more experience than I do...
He is still sleeping right now, but I will wake him up soon so we can do some core and strength work outs followed by a morning/early afternoon at the beach! We havent been in the ocean since we came back to the keys, and I think it is about time that we do! Plus I am desperate to go snorkeling! I was suppose to be out on a dive boat this morning but the trip got canceled because of the high winds. Anyways I have rambled I will check back in with all you crazy sixers later!

Julia - Don't you just hate work drama? The job I'm in now is in city government, so politics rules... You really don't know who you can trust, and that's no fun. I'm hoping for a BIG change when I start working in an elementary school next week!
Cathy - Nice job on the walks! It has been super cold in the mornings here too, so walking my dog has been a chilly experience. It's supposed to warm into the 80's this weekend (the roof should be open at the Colts game on Sunday!!!).
