I know this sounds yucky, but...

I went to lunch with a friend who I hadn't seen in a few months. We went to a lunch buffet at one of the hotels and they really have a good selection of foods. I had baked chicken, string beans (steamed), and a half a cup of brown rice. But since I was at the buffet I said - why not, and had some bread pudding (yes with rum sauce). About an hour after I got back to my desk at my job my stomach started grumbling. After that I had to run to the bathroom. I knew I was eating better, but I didn't think this would happen. Does this happen to anyone else after they eat a rich meal? I almost feel as though I shouldn't have logged this in - lol!

Yes, I absolutely cannot eat the crap I used to or I get very sick. Its my body telling me 'hell no!'0

Same here. The body knows its limits once its on track..0

I don't think that sounds yucky. Bread pudding is delicious!0

Absolutely! I get so sick when I eat foods high in sugar or fat now!0
-
Yep, been there done that!!
I cannot eat half the garbage I used to without paying for it in a really big way.0 -
OH YES!! Every time!!!0

I haven't been able to eat fast food in a very long time without getting sick. Chipotle seems to be the only exception. The nice thing is that it doesn't smell good, taste good or appeal to me any longer.0

Yeah, it happens to me. A lot
Ever since I cut out almost all processed foods from my diet (this was just one of the ways I initiated my healthy lifestyle before joining MFP), whenever I do eat them I can feel my stomach getting annoyed within about an hour, and I know I'll have to go to the bathroom soon. Same thing with vegetables - since I started eating a lot more salad and other vegetables that I didn't eat nearly as often before, I've noticed that my body isn't accustomed to the new diet yet - let's just say there's always a surprise in the toilet every morning from the meal the night before, and I never remember it being that smelly :laugh:0 -
I`m in the same boat. My body is just not able to handle the grease and sugar the same way anymore.0

Same here. Sometimes it doesn't necessarily even have to be bad food, but lets say I didn't get time to eat much during the day so I have a larger portion at dinner...my stomach rumbles and aches for hours.0

Are you sure that your reaction was from the buffet meal ? I can't understand how it would be possible to digest that particular food ( or any solid food for that matter) within just one hour and have it ready to be expelled the usual way. Digestion as well as transit from the stomach, through the intestines and ultimately to the toilet takes a lot longer than just 60 minutes.....0

I thought maybe this was just me... My digestion got really messed up for a few days after I went off my healthy foods diet...0
-
I get exactly the same, my body cannot handle really rich food and I end up throwing it back up as my stomach just doesn't want to digest it!0

Yea, your mistake was not getting the caramel sauce...0

Not when something upsets your stomach. It can hit very quickly if your stomach decides it doesn't like something.0 -

That is true. I did not figure from the OP that she actually threw up......my mistake. Now it makes perfect sense.0 -
I don't always have trouble with sugar or fat- I can easily go to a fancy, not-concerned-about-healthy-eating restaurant, and eat without incident. Although I have found that, if I go somewhere like McDonalds or Burger King, I'm done eating with less food. What really tends to get me is the GREASE. Fried foods are okay, foods cooked with fats are okay, but if there is that liquid grease there, my stomach sends it *ahem* "through the express lane".0

I didn't read anything about chocolate covered bacon. I haz sad.0

Oh yes! Every time I eat something that my body isn't used to anymore, I have to make sure I am at a safe distance to the bathroom about an 1 later lol.0

Could be a higher-than-usual fat intake.0

It could happen the other way...This has happened to me when I ate healthy for 3 weeks in Ireland then tried to go back to eating like I had been. When your body doesn't want something in it, it will get it out any way possible and as fast as possible. I know digestion can take longer, but again, if your body wants it out, it's going to get it out.0 -
I usually have some rice or pasta during the week with vegetables. It rarely bothers me. I don't meat that much meat during the week, but I eat it on the weekends and still don't have that issue. The only thing I had different today from most days was the bread pudding. This also happened when we had a "pizza party" at work and I ate some Pappa John's pizza. It was good going down, but I almost didn't catch the last bus going home because I was back and forth in the bathroom for an hour. Judging from what others are saying I'm thinking it's eating something that your body is not used to.0

i've heard yuckier things. my FL is capable of making the most unsqueamish person lose their lunch.0

Happens to me every time I eat food heavy in grease. I had a bunch of fried food last weekend for the first time in a while and 2 hours later I was vom’ing up a grease slick. Ick!0
