Insanity Question

I will be finishing up with my first month of Insanity this week and I am curious about when other people have lost the majority of their weight? I have lost some, but not a great deal. I am in significantly better shape than I was when I started, but my weight has yet to change a great deal. What should I expect going into Month 2?

Replies

  • I'm in the middle of week 7. I think I lost about a pound total the first month. Haven't lost much in the 2nd so far, but I love the incredible changes in my cardio fitness and strength so much that I keep going. Weight loss or not, I just managed to fit into my skinny jeans for the first time in 4 years, so Insanity is definitely doing something!

Month 2 is way hard (you almost feel like you're starting all over, except you know you'd have just walked away if the workouts were that hard in the beginning), but the calorie burn is amazing. The only time it's ever under 500 (measured with a HRM) is max recovery, which is the antithesis of recovery IMHO. I'm so addicted to insanity that I'm thinking of repeating it, hoping that the increased strength will help me lose more weight.

Also, I've been plateaued since the early summer, and nothing was working, but Insanity did get me back on a slow, steady loss, but I think that's to be expected when you're almost a year into a diet. Insanity made me excited about working out again, which was sorely needed.

Feel free to add me as a friend if you like!

I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm in week 3 and have noticed changes in my body as well as my endurance and strength, but the scale hasn't really moved all that much.

Insanity is a great workout though. I'm loving it so far. I'm also with Jessa in saying that Insanity got me excited about working out again. I was really slacking for a few weeks.

Insanity def has helped my power boost and ability to get high ATI with a kickstart. I am a cyclist with a fast pace early into my ride (crossing busy freeway with a fast light). So getting Insanity into my workout was definitely a plus in this direction that I was not expecting. The first time I did a "regular" type class (Tabata) almost felt like I was cheating because of no massive ATI at the beginning and I kept waiting for that almost-barfy-acid-taste to hit me, lol.

However, I have to be careful as Insanity workout can and has thrown me off my ability for endurance. As for weight loss, I'm still eating too much and not enough at a deficit. No amount of exercise on my part can undo this. :blushing: But I own up to it!

I've heard that Insanity doesn't actually help you lose a lot of weight. It's mainly for toning your body and strengthening your muscles. It's great for you though, so keep it up. :) You'll be a ton healthier by the end of it. And That's all I've heard, so don't take my word for it, because I really don't know. When I did Insanity I didn't really lose any weight, I just got stronger and healthier.

My ex husband bought Insanity when I told him I was off like a prom dress. So the week I was moving out I got to the house and he had it on the big screen...he had knee pads and elbow braces on...and was sitting on the couch eating a pound bag of twizzlers in his underwear. Last I saw him...it didnt seem to be working for him.

Thats all the experience I have with it. :-D

I dont think he was doing it right...
