Ladies, THIS is why I lift

My husband is insulating the loft in our new house this weekend. He ordered all the stuff and it arrived yesterday. The problem is, it arrived, plastic wrapped, on 2 pallets and the lorry couldn't get up our driveway and this is where the trouble began.
The lorry was the crane type so was HUGE and our road is rural and tiny. While the driver and I were deliberating about where to put the pallets, my neighbour across the road who is moving soon, thankfully, came tearing out of the house to yell at the driver that she had to go out in 30 minutes' time ( she always does that, and never does go anywhere) and that the lorry was blocking her driveway. So, I ask the driver to just unload the pallets in the road and that my husband and I will shift the stuff when he gets home. On seeing this, the neighbour comes tearing out again to yell that we can't leave the pallets in the road as it's a hazard, will make it. difficult for her to get out of her driveway and she'll call the police. I placation attempt ensues explaining that the pallets are no wider than a car and she can get out just fine when a car is parked in that space, but to no avail. She was screaming at this point, so I tell the lorry driver to continue unloading and I would deal with it.
I went inside, got a box cutter to cut the plastic wrap and started unloading the pallets. The neighbour asked me what I was doing and I said, as it was upsetting her so much, I was going to move all the stuff. It was 4 rolls of loft insulation, 20 sheets of celatex and 44 packs of loft flooring (13.5kg each).
"What, by yourself?!", she asked.
"Are YOU going to help me?", I asked.
"Don't be ridiculous, you can't move all that by yourself", she barked back.
"Well, you think I can't, and I think I can. Let's see who's right, shall we?" and off I went.
She was still standing in her front garden hooting with derision during the moving of the loft insulation, but she got bored (or embarrased, not sure which) after half of the celatex because she disappeared. I'd love to say I moved it all, but my husband got home in time to take the last 6 packs of loft boarding and move the pallets, thank the gods, because my back was killing me lol
She did go out, in fact, during the loft boarding phase, but she didn't say a goddamned word

Good for you for A. Being able to put all that weight training to practical use and B. Being rid of your horrid nosy *kitten* neighbor soon.0

Haha, brilliant!!0

Hehe! I love this. Well done on just getting on with it and getting the job done. Being strong certainly has its upside!0
-
Wow, your neighbour is a right royal b*tch.
Congratulations though on trying to resolve the situation and being AWESOME!!0 -
Go you! Strong AND sassy - wonderful combo. Love it.0

She sure is a PITA. She also screams at her kids in the mornings, blows her horn to get them in the car for school, is always telling her husband to "be a man" and never walks her dogs lol0

Ha ha ha stupid neighbor, awesome that you can move that. It's amazing how quickly our bodies can change from doing fitness.0

OMG! Someone needs to tell your neighbor to shut up and 'woman up'!!!!
I too love weightlifting and i always think that the best part is the feeling confident part! Nice to show your neighbor, maybe she'll have a healthy dose of respect for you now and not come tearing out of her house yelling at you

WOOO! to you.
If I could figure out some kinda funny, cheering you on type picture/gif. I'd post it.0 -
Great--problem solved, apart from that absolutely ghastly neighbour you've got....you have my every sympathy. :flowerforyou:0

simple solutions for none complex problems.
I hate people who over complicate things and good for you for- you know JUST DOING IT. I hate that fluffy type who can't be bothered to even try.
GO YOU for getting it done!!! (Double points for showing the useless uber *kitten* up!!!)0 -
I find a handheld air horn works well for these types. My neighbor is a interesting one and I find the air horn shuts her up. She doesn't even try to say anything to me now.0

BRAVO ! just come across this and i am totally with you. i love being strong. I have always been raised by my mum that women can do just as much 'labour' as men and its something that has always stuck with me...hence my mates all refering to my 'man strength' - which i dont have but im not afraid to lift and carry things other girls would go wimpy over.
Our moving man actually said to my boyfriend that he shouldnt get on my bad side for fear that id actually hurt him if i smacked him one
Funny funny, oh and your neighbour - what a prat. some people just like to make others lives difficult but well done you for just keeping your cool and getting on with it.
I applaud you !!0 -
I was so hoping you were going finish that story with "I punched her fat loud mouth so hard she flew backwards into her garden". Kudos for keeping your cool. Great inspiration too.0
-
Awesome job!!! Too bad she hadn't already moved. ;-) I hope your next neighbor will be friendlier and more tolerant!!0

Hahaha this is hilarious, good job for showing her who's boss... bahaha still laughing.0

I applaud you, that'll show your neighbor!
I just recently started lifting myself -- I felt I needed to be stronger because my job requires a lot of bending over and heavy lifting. I have to say its definitely started making a difference!0
