How do I feel good about myself?

So here's the scenario - I get all dressed up and ready to go out with the girlfriends, I think I look really good. We meet and everyone makes a fuss over this one's outfit, this one's hair, this one's nails and no one says anything about me. No one evens mentions that I've lost over 30 lbs. Why am I invisible? Does anyone else feel this way? I've worked really hard to get to where I am and I'm dedicated to do this, but I get depressed when no one even notices. :(

Other people aren't thinking about us as much as we are. This can be good or bad depending on the situation.

As long as you feel good about yourself! I meant, I know it's fun to get compliments but who knows what was going on with them.

    This ^^^

Change things up a bit............become a blonde. People noticed my hair change and no glasses before the weight loss.

I read this on another thread recently and it seems a bit far fetched but you never know ... They might be afraid to mention anything, because some people could interpret "You've lost weight, you look great!" to mean "You were really fat and ugly before."

Chances are they are just too absorbed in themselves to give a hoot about anyone else. If you want to talk about it, bring it up! You have done great work and deserve to brag a little :) Congratulations and keep it up!
  • you are looking fabulous! perhaps they realize there out of your league now for what its worth you are looking pretty in pink ;)

if i were you i would buy my self a new out fit that is the right size fitting as you have lost weight and if you are wearing the usual clothes then they dont notice anything diff... also it may be because you are around them same people alot and they havnt noticed that youve lost the weight because they see you everyday.

Not far fetched at all...in my experience, this is often the case. People are uneasy commenting about weight, even if it's positive. It's just one of those things...Religion, Politics, and Weight...

I didn't really start getting much in the way of comments until I started bringing things up like, "man...killer workout at the gym...I'm up to 1.5x body weight on my squat these days." Then I would get the, "yeah...thought you were working out....didn't want to say anything, but you look great."

You'd be surprised at how often the above is the case.
  • Do your girl friends see you often? If they do, it's hard to notice. Some people are not very observant.

it actually took a while before anyone noticed me losing weight to. Some people just are remembering how different we look and some may be afraid like the other person mentioned, feeling like if they say "you look great did you loose weight " that you could interpret it like boy you were fat I've have sometimes just started the conversation saying something like I started working out lately and I'm so happy i've actually lost .... lbs so far But l now that i have lost over 40lbs a lot of people notice

I agree with it all and because this has been a LOOOOng journey for me I have noticed:

-people don't want to say a thing because they don't want to come off as rude
-they might not want to "put you on the spot"
-they may not notice, have you changed things up a bit clothing wise, baggy clothes hides a LOT
--are they in your inner circle, if so ask them have they noticed
-assume goodwill with folks, sometimes they miss the mark, they just do.....
    -keep coming back here!

I wish you the best of good vibes and hope this kindness here is a help, be encouraged we know!
