Do you track your fitness ...
I'm looking into purchasing a fitness tracker ...
Unsure of which type is the best choice for the activity's I do ...
I ride dirt bikes often with my partner ...
sometimes this involves camping and long rides in the bush with river crossings
and jumps and can be quite physical ..
I road cycle ...
I work out circuit, walk, jog ..
Would love some input as to what you use and why
thank you in advance )x

I use a Shine. It's still new and they haven't opened up their software for developers yet, but they will be. You can wear it as a watch (it does have a watch function), or on your shoe, belt, even as a necklace. It's small and not bulky, which I like. It's totally water proof so you don't need to take it off when showering or swimming or washing the mud from the bike off. If you're biking you should put it on your shoe since that's a more active part but for most things I just wear it on my wrist. The earlier ones people have complained that the strap has broken or it wasn't tightly sealed, thus breaking from water damage. I have read though that those who bothered to contact Misfits were giving a new one. One of the owners is John Sculley, a previous CEO of Apple, so I think that shows more promise of future development. I've had mine for almost a month and have had 3 updates already.
I also like that you don't need to remove it to charge it. You are technically supposed to put the shine on the iPhone to sync it, but that's only because it's metal and the bluetooth signal has difficulty getting through. I wear mine and hold my phone next to my wrist just tapping the circle the Shine is to sit in. Works like a charm.
You also can double tap it to see how close you are to your goal (which you can set on your app). If you triple tap it, it will go into whatever activity you have chosen as your triple tap on your app. You set it to jogging, cycling, etc. You can also set it to sleep and track your sleep. With the last update it gives you a graph, hour by hour, of when you were asleep vs. deep sleep.
Downsides are it doesn't sync to MFP yet, but I believe that's just a matter of time. They just started selling them at the Apple store, which is a huge way for them to get more consumers, which they will loose without being competitive. The other downside for you would be that I don't think that it would count anything for dirt biking. I realize that it does burn calories but that's almost closer to a muscular activity I think which is hard for any step counter to track. Maybe a heart monitor could do something.0
