How do you like your salads?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to hear some new/different salad ideas!
I usually like to take whatever leaf of lettuce that I have on hand and add fruit. A little bit of poppy-seed dressing, with a nectarine and some nuts or seeds is what makes a tasty salad to me! What do you guys think?

My new favorite dressing is Blackberry Balsamic Vinegar. You can make with regular balsamic vinegar it if you can't find it to buy. Even better with a little pressed lemon olive oil. Black beans, garbanzo beans are good things to add to make more substantial in lieu of meat. I also like basil with most of my salids

I like baby spinach and/or romaine, chopped boiled egg, onion and any other veggies...usually don't eat my salads with dressing (although I love several dressings as condiments for other meals) I'm also a big fan of a huge pile of shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce on top of just about any leftovers (Mexican, lasagna, whatever...small portion with the "salad" on top of it)

I need my salads with full fat dressings. Its mostly Chipotle Ranch or Spicy Ginger peanut soy dressing.
Also consists majorly of Spinach, any available veggies, chickpeas, edamame, some berries, nuts.
    My salads are huge!

Mine are super boring and simple. Lettuce. A few ounces of some sort of meat and maybe cheese. Cucumber. Sometimes I'll add carrot, bell pepper, and/or craisins but I don't like having too many little crunchy things to try to pick up with my fork because inevitably you're mostly just getting the "big" stuff - lettuce and meat, and all the "little" stuff falls to the bottom so you end up with all the other bits at the end and it's like....what's the point....yeah I'm weird. For dressing I alternate between fat free balsamic vinaigrette, lite honey mustard, and lite blue cheese.

Now if I were going to have a super delicious salad that someone else makes for me it would have some sort of protein, blue cheese or goat cheese crumbles, craisins, walnuts, maybe some bits of apple or little mandarin orange slices, possibly some bacon, and a fruity vinaigrette. Or a spinach salad with egg, cheddar, bacon, red onion, and balsamic.

Your poppy seed dressing goes really nice with fresh strawberries and if you have the room in your calories then add some nice almonds slivers. Or the mandarin oranges goes nicely as well and they are easy to travel with too.

Salad? I don't have time to make a salad! Give me a head of romaine, some whole baby cucumbers, some whole mini bell peppers, some tomatos (any size), maybe some jicima, some cheese, some chicken or ham or what ever, maybe a few almonds Eat each item as you go. Forget the dressing. Forget the plate, forget the fork. I don't have time!

Right now I'm into Asian slaw. Shredded green, purple, & Napa cabbage, carrot, red pepper. Homemade dressing with freshly ground peanut butter, rice vinegar, soy sauce, lime juice, grated ginger, and a hit of red pepper flakes. Lots of heft and crunch!

I like bacon on my salad....

Just kidding...well, not really...I do like bacon on my salad....

Seriously though, I don't like lettuce and see very little point to eating it...I do like spinach and some other greens. Plenty of crispy veggies like cucumber and radish...some thinly sliced red onion and cherry tomatoes...a good helping of grilled chicken or beef and topped off with some fresh goat cheese and kalamata olives.

Hate lettuce. Any salad without lettuce. Just give me all the other stuff...tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cheese...

I love to go out and order salads without it. The waitress always looks at me like I have a thumb coming out of my forehead.

I'm actually not a veggie fan, but I do love spinach and cucumbers, so when I make a salad that's pretty much all I put in it. I make my own dressing, though:

    1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
    1/3 cup chopped onion
    1/4 cup water
    1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
    2 TBSP honey
1 TBSP extra virgin olive oil
    1/4 tsp black pepper

Throw everything into a blender and process until smooth. Serving size is 2 TBSP.

    <insert inappropriate joke here>

On a more serious note, I tend to like shrimp, fruit like peaches or mangos, and almonds in my salads. :)

Hearty greens like a dark romaine and spinach, maybe even some spring mix, hard boiled egg, chick peas, grape tomatoes, cuke slices, a couple baby corn cobs, banana pepper slices, bell pepper slices, maybe a little grilled chicken or cubed ham, a little shredded cheese, a few croutons and a nice creamy dressing - Ken's lite creamy ceasar or (fully fat) parmesan peppercorn are my faves.

for some reason, iceberg lettuce tastes better chopped like you get in chopped salad (Portillos makes an excellent chopped salad).

I like salad with fun things in them, i also dont make as good of a salad as a restauant, its boring, not sure why, i cant get it as cold as they..

you are supposed to not refrigerate tomatos because it wrecks the flavor but warm tomatos are not good.
