Question on Bikes

I would like to get a bike. Need ideas, all advice will be considered. Keep in mind my budget is limited. I would like to one day, maybe do a sprint distance triathlon but don't want to drop big money ( Which I don't have).

"budget is limited" can mean anything - need to be more specific.

I got my first bike 7 years ago when I was fifty. The best thing I did was go to a reputable bike shop and tell them my needs. They found the right bike for me. You might be able to do the same thing, the advice is free, and they can help you find a second hand bike if your budget is very limited.

I started out with a hybrid, I used it for commuting to work, and recreational rides of up to 100 km. I now have a second bike, a touring model which I use only in the city, and only when there is no salt on the roads. The old hybrid is used on dirt roads, crusher dust trails, and in the depths of winter on snow, ice and salt.

If you plan to race your needs might be different, but a cycling professional could advise you.

    You can go here:

Pick the model that best matches your budget. You'll get a high quality ride that will last for years from a great company with a lifetime frame warranty. Many, many people have even done triathlons on far worse bikes than even the cheapest there, and you don't need (or want, frankly) an aero-bar monster until you're actually competitive.
  • Whatever you decide make sure you get heavy duty inner-tubes. I love biking, I'm hoping to get 25 miles in tomorrow. Time is running short as the change in season is fast approaching for me, I only have a few more weeks to enjoy the outdoor workouts.

And learn how to change a flat yourself! Carry a tire iron, spare tube and purse size pump.
