Ew no. Butter or don't bake.
QFT
The only recipe I use without butter are the ones that don't call for it...
I buy butter when it's on sale...and freeze it0 -

^^This! I don't recommend anything but butter. Margarine is not even close to a real food.0 -
There is no substitute for butter.0

In baking, you can substitute applesauce for butter. Applesauce has a bit more moisture, so you may need to add a tidge less then the recipe requires. So if you need 1/2 cup butter, I'd add 1/2 applesauce, minus about a tablespoon.
If you mix half your butter amount with applesauce and then the other half with butter, you still get that yummy flavor butter adds with less calories.0 -
Just go for the butter and enjoy it....everything in moderation.0

Avocado works well, as does applesauce and coconut oil0

Margerine, if you don't mind eating butter flavored oil. Tho, in all honesty, I can't taste the difference in baking. *shrug*:ohwell:0

I've never really found anything to replace butter. When I have it, I buy non-salted, usually at the local farmers market.0

Only butter I use is Kerry gold. Otherwise avocado, coconut oil, applesauce.0

hydrated chia seeds-used this last time I made zucchini bread.0
-
If not butter, than use coconut or palm oils0
-
I use it so rarely, I just use the real thing. Some of the substitutes are worse than the original.0

Thanks all :-)0

All hail the Kerrygold!! Amazingly wonderful stuff. *salivating*0 -
Unsweetened applesauce and coconut oil both work wonderfully as well, but buttah is definitely preferred. Applesauce and coconut oil can leave your recipe feeling a bit more moist than intended, but both add great flavor.0

Sour cream/greek yogurt.
I'd prefer the butter though.0 -

I can accept this but not weird things like margarines or spray butter.0 -

Exactly. I refuse to use margarine, can't believe its not butter etc, when the real stuff like Kerry Gold is far superior. If it means I have to exercise an additional 15 minutes let it be for Kerry Gold.0 -

Coconut oil. But really I say just go for the butter if you are only baking once in a while.
also I love your profile pic - I just came back from a run and it's 11:45pm0 -
I agree, coconut oil. I even use it as a spread on my toast. Its very good. Not as good as butter, but good.0
