Hi guys, I find that every month, just one week before my period and the week of my period itself, I find it very difficult to stick to my diet and I tend to have random cravings for different foods all the time, sometimes even foods I don't normally even have the desire to eat! This really sucks because I feel so disappointed with myself and I will feel guilty and bad even if I managed to squeeze in 2 hours of pretty intense workout after eating the junk on that day.

This week, I ate one junky food about once or twice a day. For example, on Monday I ate 100g of frozen yogurt, Thursday I had frown yogurt again and some moon cake which is a Chinese dessert. It was the moon cake festival that day and everyone was having moon cakes. Although I ate slightly less than a quarter of a moon cake (one moon cake is about the size of a fist and I had two or three bites). I'm sure most people ate an entire moon cake or more in my family lol and most of them are of a healthy weight.

Okay that really long story aside, how do you girls cope with eating healthily when you're having your period? Is what I'm going through normal?

I can relate to what your going through . I am just coming to the end of my TOM & it's not been fun !! Like you a week before I start I used to want any form of stodgy carbs I could get ! This time it was really hard to resist the temptations but I did . Since being on mfp I've been watching my carb intake , keeping to 110 to 120 a day and not having much in my evening meal . My mood has been quite low this time but the carb cravings were definitely controllable & the loss was very light . I did have junk food - McDonald's but ihad fillet o fish with salad ( instead of fries - although did steal 1/2 dozen of hubbies !) & logged the in to daily limit . So I still managed to have a treat ! Also walking has helped eased the symptoms & cramps !

I just successfully survived the week before my period. Honestly I relied on mental distractions, trickery and hot tea. I refused to eat off plan unless my tummy was growling, and if the cravings wouldn't go away I'd have a huge cup of hot tea with splenda. I sometimes add Chili pepper flakes to my tea or coffee. I like sweet and hot together and I find it helps push away cravings.

Keep your hands busy, also lots of water and hot tea.

Like the above posters said, try and keep busy! & hot tea works amazingly..

.. But as I found out today, it works better with chocolate... and last night the chocolate went well with wine so I know how hard it is to stay on track! Sometimes you just can't control it no matter how hard you want to so I totally sympathise!
