I am a southern girl who loves her grits for breakfast but here so many negative things about them. I have tried and tried to love oatmeal but without success. What is your take on the grits thing?

I would just eat the grits but go easy on the butter, sugar, or salt :)

It's all about moderation. I don't thing grits alone are bad... it's just all the stuff you add to it. Tasty tasty stuff.

I love grits as well and unfortunately usually eat them with not the healthiest things like cheese or fried fish. However there are also times I pair it with turkey bacon and its not too unhealthy. I think by making a few changes like the meat you eat with it (if at all), using less salt, lowfat cheese, low salt butter etc will help make it a healthier meal.

Yummmmm! Love grits. I eat a smaller portion now. I'm satisfied with only puting ONE soft fried egg in them. YUMMMMMMM!!!

Yeah man, I eat grits almost twice a week! It's not the grit itself that's bad...it's the butter that people add.

I use other stuff, like mixing a fried egg in there with a pinch of salt and pepper. :] Sometimes I even throw in some Cajun seasoning because I lived in Louisiana for a bit and got addicted to the stuff.
