Is this normal?

My daily calorie goal is 1650. Some days I will feel extremely hungry and eat 1700-1800 calories. Some days I will not feel hardly hungry and struggle to hit 1300. Am I abnormal or does that happen to anyone else? Will it balance out over all?

I go through the same thing. After several days of eating pretty well, eventually I am much less hungry and sometimes I have to force myself to eat "enough" calories. It doesn't happen often, but it definitely happens! My daily goal is 1370, which seems like nothing on most days (but I eat more due to exercise). Some days I'm full at like 1000 and wonder why!0

Maybe try setting a weekly calorie goal instead of a daily.0

It definitely all balances out and happens to most people. Look at your weekly overall calorie intake instead of scrutinizing each day for a much broader and more accurate view.0

all depends on the quality of food, if i eat junk food, i can eat 5k+ calories and still be hungry, if i eat healthier and a ton of fibery foods then i have a hard time getting 3k0

Your weekly average is what matters! And why eat when you're not hungry? Makes no sense. I never force myself to eat extra just to hit my calorie goal. I eat a variable amount of calories throughout the week- I stay around 1200 Sun thru Thurs, so that I can indulge a little on Friday and Saturday nights and still average a good loss. Like I ate 824 one day this week and 1000 another, but then indulged this weekend. My average is 1450 for this week, which is a great target for me. This method works very well for me- I lost a good amount of weight this way in the past without feeling deprived because I could still go out with my friends on the weekend, in moderation.
People are so afraid of going below 1200, but one day at less than 1200 won't do anything to your metabolism. "Starvation mode" would happen if your weekly average or multi-week average were very low- not from just one day!0 -
It happens...totally normal. I balance my calories over the week, so if by Sunday I'm under my weekly goal, I consider the week successful. Some days over, some days under.0

It's fine. It's all about averages.0

Same happens to me, I just look at my weekly cals.0

It's fine. Just try and make better choices when you're really hungry, it's how I stay under my calories.0

This. I also want to eat everything in sight after a long bike ride (30+ miles), but I guess that's normal. I agree with not eating if you're not hungry. A long time ago I had a co-worker who was a short, skinny little guy who said, "listen to your body". We get marketed crap foods so aggressively and so often, sometimes we forget how to listen to our bodies and eat because it's in front of us and it looks good.0 -
Great thread...glad no one jumped all over the OP for eating below 1,000 some days. Also, looking at the full week will allow for low and high days instead of beating myself up on Monday for OVER eating and beating myself up on Tuesday for UNDER eating.
I had a great loss this week and there were 2 days that due to family obligations (mom was in hospital), I was just NOT ABLE to eat dinner. I am thinking I might try it again...a very light dinner twice a week on the days I don't work out - then enjoy myself when the time comes on the weekends. I ate out twice and still lost 1.5...0
