I never thought it would happen to me!!!

Well today I actually went for a jog/walk around the park and I did 5 miles in under an hour. Having been obese all my life and having lost 154lb in under 2 years thanks to diet and surgery I am now able to do things I never thought possible. I have never been able to run. I must admit I felt very heavy to start with as if the ground was shaking with each step but it did get better. I do have aches in places speed walking doesn't put them!

Will go again next week and will hopefully jog more and walk less each time!

I did alternate running and power walking. I know surgery isn't for everyone but now I am a normal weight I can do all the things I wanted to do before but my excess weight and size hampered me. I want to run a 5k next year in memory of a colleague who died of skin cancer. I thought I would struggle to run it but now it seems achievable!
  • I'm hoping that I can do the Color Run (http://thecolorrun.com/) after my surgery =] Yea, it's only a little over 3 miles, but hey, it's a start =]

    Jennie,

    Congrats to you!

There is a couch to 5k group on here. I joined and I love it, very motivating and lots of great advice.

    You're a rockstar!
