I have been majorly binging for over 3 months now. (I got married in late June, returned from our honeymoon and have had problems eating healthy again). As a result, I have gained about 15lb since my wedding. ;( I am uncomfortable, in so much pain from the binges, but cant seem to stop. I can eat healthy for a few days, then I go into a binge cycle again. Anyone else experience this? Or have any suggestions to get into a permanent healthy habit? I am trying to do lower carb (with the exception of oatmeal and an apple for breakfast) and I am trying to stay at 1200 cal a day. I am 5'3, weight about 135 now...would like to be back at 120.

Figure out your BMR and eat above it. You're trying to stick to 1200 calories and you are hungry. If you keep yourself hungry all time you'll eventually snap and binge. Be realistic with your eating, don't deny treats in small quantities and exert your willpower.0

If I had to guess, I'd say it's because your calorie goal is too low. 1200 calories for a 5'3 woman @ 135 lbs is pretty low, in my opinion.
Try using http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/ to see how many calories you should be eating to maintain your weight, and how many to lose. But I think 1200 is too low for you. Once you've upped your calories to a decent level, the binges should stop.0 -
If you are bingeing, you also need to find out why. Since you are causing yourself physical pain from bingeing, you might want to reluctantly doctor.0

Sounds about the same as me. That's about the same amount of weight I've gained since June, as well. I've been stressed out and forced into situations I hate, my anxiety has grown exponentially, and I live 3,000 miles away fro my family and can't seem to make friends and am always alone. Therefore, I eat. The only thing that makes me feel better, but I too eat the bulk of my calories for the day in one sitting and then feel sick.
I'm trying a monetary system to try to punish myself for bad days. My mom has helped me be accountable. I'm giving all my binge money to her, a dollar for every time. I just started this two days ago so I don't know how it's going to work, but I'm trying. I've also tried too many times to go from binging to eating 1,200 calories a day and it never works and leaves me disappointed. I find even an extra few hundred helps and makes me feel not so stuck. My idea right now, is any progress in the right direction is good. I cant flip 180 degrees in a day. It took time to start this, it will take time to stop. Let's be friends and hopefully we can encourage one another!0 -
I think 1200 is the bare minimum, I'd say raise it to 1500 - 1600 and stay beneath it.0

Binging is a sign something not so good is going on, it could be physical trigger or an emotional trigger. Me and my buddy are trying out a new technique this last week . Five minute mediations to calm our anxieties. It seems to be workin , I don't meditate to good , I get distracted real easy , but my buddy he is an ex smoker says if we stick with it we should see some improvement.
Our mediation instructor says this is normal it is practice practice practice. So if it anxiety then try it but first I would see a doctor.0 -
Hello there,
One time I got married I could NOT eat for months, anything except liquids, I was so ill.... Looking back I'm sure it was stress - and I was later diagnosed with an anxiety disorder - which can play havoc with eating habits. The run up to a wedding can be SO stressful (especially if you're young and have the mother in law from HELL). But I digress....
So... as one lady said already I think it might be an idea to have a word with your doctor, who will be able to point you in the right direction.
