Is it okay to miss a workout?

I usually exercise for 1-2 hours 6 days a week without fail. Last week, I did a little extra (7 days but one day was just brisk walking for 30 minutes and I don't really count that as a workout). My workouts are usually lots of running, high intensity interval training and hockey training which has lots of running too.
I missed my workout today because I napped in the afternoon and I just didn't feel like getting up to exercise in the evening and now I feel so incredibly guilty

I have nothing in the way of advice because I only work out 3 times a week. I don't feel guilty when I don't, I just eat less.
But, guilt is a destructive emotion that only hurts you.
Either use it to motivate yourself or learn some mindfulness techniques and not to let it bother you.0 -
Not a problem in my opinion. There's always tomorrow. I train 3-5 days a week. Some 3 and some 5.0

Get over it and move on; just don't let missing become a habit.0

Your body probably needed the rest. I agree with everyone that's posted so far. It's like when you fall off a bike, you just pick yourself up and start riding again. I have fallen off plenty of times, but I always manage to get back on.0

this.
I thinik, you shouldn't worry about missing it once. You were napping, you body requiered some rest.
Working out 6 times a week is a lot. If you do it regularly, missing it one time isn't a problem.
Just relax, and hit it tomorrow!0 -
your body will ultimately let you know what it needs and if that is rest you need to listen to it. you may find cutting your workouts to 5 days a week is more acceptable to your body and you won't burn out as quickly
i walk the dogs everday and run 3 days a week, the dog walks can be long (4-6 miles) but they are quite leisurely (2.5 mph) so my body only does high intensity 3 times a week. this works for me
never feel guilty about resting. think of it as just recharging your batteries ready for the next workout0 -
If you needed a nap, you probably needed a nap. It's counterproductive to excercise when your body needs a break. I currently run 5-6 days a week. I am training for a race. I never run 7 days, I need a break, and I don't feel guilty about that. Over training can lead to injury.0

I've been going to the gym about 5 weeks now. I try to go 3 days a week. If I miss a day, I don't worry about it, because 5 weeks ago I was going to the gym zero days a week.0

OF COURSE!!! This is not set in stone, and you won't blow up like a balloon because you DID miss one or have a slow week. I do--last week was one. I did some each day and missed a few days and the shocker was I did not gain and did not lose. But today I am back at the track and happy again...0
