Fitting it all in

I would love to hear from anyone that is relatively busy and able to keep a consistent workout schedule. I work a full time job, a part time job as well as have a business that is beginning to grow. I also do CPR certifications as they come about. Initially I wanted to do my workouts in the morning, however, I just can't get up at 4:30am. I set my alarm and when I actually wake up it's after 5am and time for me to go to work. I've been able to get off of work and head straight to the gym. That seems to be the way I need to go. If I go home, it's a wrap! My goal is to work out 4-5 days per week.

I work nights and I've been going to the gym after work. I tell myself I only have to do 15 min and I usually end up doing a lot more. It is difficult to fit in gym time when you work full time (and 12 hr shifts on top of that), but I do end up feeling much better throughout the week. On my days off I try to do something fun, such as hiking.0

I also start work relatively early (7am).
I have gym associated with work and I am a member of a gym which is on the way home.
I live about 30 kilometres drive from work (25 minute at 100kph).
I currently go directly from work to the work gym if I want to do weights & cardio.
I go to the aircon gym for cardio...
If I do end up driving home - I get changed ASAP and walk to the end of my road - (5k return trip)
This is currently the only way I can fit it in.
Summer is coming here- which means sun up at around 4am - so I am thinking of putting 1/2 of my desired walk into the morning - not sure how that will go down with my hubby - who is not a morning person!!!!
I also like to swim but refuse to swim at 5 am despite the fact it is sometimes well into the 20's here at 5am.
However, the more I work at it the more addicted I get and thus I am now struggling NOT to work out more than the work out!!!
Good Luck with your journey!0 -
I'm pretty busy. I work full time and I am a single mom of a 3 year old. We also have to commute an hour each way to get to work/school.
So I quite literally fit my excercise in. Most of my excercise is running (30+ miles per week). I generally only run during blocks of time dedicated to something else I have to do, like my lunch at work, or I run home with my daughter in the jogging stroller. My only dedicated run is my long run on Sundays of 10 - 15 miles. But that's been in my schedule for 2 years. Now I'm working on getting my mileage to a solid 40 per week.
I try to do bodyweight strength at home too 2 or 3 days a week for an hour, but because of evening chores, this is the first thing to go.0 -
I work full-time on weekday days and go to the gym either after work or during lunch if I can fit it in. Getting up even earlier in the morning would not work for me due to very much not being a morning person. Before I started working out regularly, I would run errands and stuff after work, so now I have to figure out those things ahead of time on the weekend so that I can manage my life more efficiently.
Basically, if you want it to be a priority for you, it will be. The general advice I give people who say they don't have time is to quit watching TV and use that time.0 -
Thank you for the feedback. I have packed my gym bag and will be going right after work. I find that easier. If I go home, it's a wrap. I will build up to 5-6 days per week. I think getting in 3-4 days is pretty darn good.:happy:0
