gain 1.5 lbs from eating too much sodium last night?

I normally intake sodium around 1000-1500 mg per day my normal weight is at 105 lbs but yesterday was my cheat day so I made a wrong choice by eating 3 rolls of frozen lumpia from Costco and 1 roll of frozen chicken&veggies spring rolls (yummy when eat but feel bad afterward).
So my sodium intake yesterday was at 2300 mg and this morning I weigh in at 106.5 lbs. I was surprised and thinking "what the heck just one meal cheat day effect me a lot!!!???" I was getting nervous and trying to think what did I do yesterday, oh yes the Lumpia!!!
or maybe pre-period but not really because I am 10 days away from my period (I am not normally bloating from period before a few days period starts). So my guess is attending to Mr."Sodium". (My calories intake yesterday was the same as everyday, it was at 1300 net.of exercise day, so it is impossible to gain weight from my calories intake unless I ate 3500 calories right?)

Questions;
1. How long the water retention will be effecting to my body?
2. Is it really happening that you ate high sodium yesterday and it effects in the next morning? Is it that quick?
3. and how to lose this state of bloating from sodium? drink a lot of water and sweat a lot, low salt? thats it right?

    A gallon of water was about 8 pounds so yes, you can be up (or down) 1.5 pounds from sodium and/or TOM. You shouldn't be worried about such a small daily fluctuation.

    Depending on the day my weight can fluctuate as much as 5 lbs. which is one reason I stay off the scale except once a week (longer now though) to see wear I am at... Use to drive myself crazy stepping on it daily.... Now I get on the scale every couple weeks and have went out as far as a month now..... and you should never weigh yourself the day after a so called Cheat meal... You are definitely going to see a gain but it is water retention and will be gone in a couple of days.... Best of Luck

    It may or may not be sodium that caused the fluctuation. It could be the food itself, you are still digesting it.

    Why do you want to not gain weight from water retention? Keeping water in our tissues is normal and healthy. Think of it another way. There is nothing to gain from being dehydrated so the scale will lie to you and make you think you have 1.5 less pounds of body fat.
  • It is a bad habit to get on scale after cheat day I know that but the scale just in my bathroom I see it everyday I can't stop getting on it :P

    Thanks for all replies I won't be worried too much about water retention and what scale says.
