"What is the diet called this time?"

The last time we were at my bf's parent's house, I was sort of complaining about everyone trying to feed me the **** they normally try to shove in my face. I told them that I am trying to get healthy for real this time...not diving into my reasons for getting serious about this. My bf's brother looks at me and goes, "what is this "diet" you're on called this time?" I looked at him and said, I'm not on a fad diet I'm just watching what I eat, logging it, and trying to exercise at least 6 times a week. And he's like, "There must be some name for it," rolling his eyes as if it were a joke. It really hurt me that they would think this. I mean "Yes" I have tried and failed. But, who hasn't? At least be supportive, or at least not be a ****head about it! Everyone on here has been so supportive though!

I'm only down 8 lbs in a little over 3 weeks and already feeling like I'm failing. I want to be under 185 by October 12th so I will be 15 pounds down for my bf's youngest brother's wedding.

I don't know...what are some good exercises or machines that really burn off fat?

Thank you in advance for reading!

8lbs in three weeks is awesome, no reason to be discouraged over that!

That loss is great. As far as exercises, I'd suggest hiking or swimming. Both burn a lot of calories, not too hard to get into (depending on where you are I suppose), and workout various muscles. Good luck!
  • I am on the ELC diet. I pronounce it like elk.

When people ask me what it is, I tell them its a secret. When they push me, I tell them ELC stands for "Eat less crap"

To hell with them. Your doing it for yourself no one else. Eat what you want not what they think you should eat.

There are some people that yo-yo diet so much that I seriously wonder if they'll ever really hunker down and do it.....but I would NEVER say anything to them! They deserve my 110% support each time! I joked with an in-law this weekend that I lost over 3 pounds last week eating donuts and bagels (which is true, though I still kept under calories) and not exercising any (recovering from an injury). Her response: your body must be happy it's not in starvation mode so you're losing more weight. I am never in starvation mode on here...I eat most of my exercise calories back....*bangs head on wall*

Just take it as it is, move on, and look forward to the day you can prove them wrong ;)

8 lbs in 3 weeks is awesome! Don't let anyone get you down about that loss. However, remember you aren't doing a fad diet and you're doing this the right way.. 15 lbs by the 12th is probably not realistic. Even if you only lose 5 more by then, you're doing it in a healthy, lasting way. Keep that in mind. Starving yourself or over-doing it in the gym isn't going to get you where you want to be in the long term. (Not saying you'd do that, just throwing it out there).

Hard to tell from the snapshot we have here, but it could be too that he just thinks this way about dieting and it really isn't an insult to you personally. In any case, you are doing this for yourself. While it would be nice if they understood and supported you, it isn't necessary to your success. Hang in there!
