Squats

I don't have any friends who lift or go to the gym and I want desperately to learn how to do a proper squat.
Any advice? I have no idea how to start or what correct form is.
Would it be unwise to NOT ask a trainer to teach me, or is this something I can pick up on my own?
(5'8", 140lb female, with limited lifting experience.)

I asked a trainer at the gym to help me. There are now only two people I trust to spot me, or correct my form. One is the trainer who originally helped me, the other is his replacement.

  • Are you glad you started doing them??
