hi can anyone help me with a question? im doing quite well on my diet, only put on 4 pound on a two week holiday and lost it first week back!!! so quite pleased with my progress, but every day when i track i go over on my sugar! but most of my sugar comes from fruit etc, also didn't realize skimmed milk had so much sugar in it! so do you think it matters if im going over on the sugar allowance if most of it is natural sugar not refined sugars? when i add up the refine sugar it never goes over the recommended 40 grams, its just the natural sugar in fruit that does take me over! does anyone else find this?

Mostly I see people saying not to worry about your sugar intake, unless there's a medical reason to do so.0

Sugar is a carb. Some carbs are better than others. There are negative effects to spiking your blood sugar too much, which you should be conscious of, but some fruit isn't a big deal.0

The MFP sugar requirements are based on added sugar, not natural sugar. The diary, however, does not distinguish between natural and added sugar, so if you eat a reasonable amount of fruit, you will go over. Unless you have a medical need to track sugar, such as diabetes, don’t worry about it. Most of us, myself included, don’t track sugar. As long as your calories and macros look good, sugar won’t be a problem.0

If you want an additional quantifier that makes you feel more confident about fruit, etc, check out the glycemic index of foods. Low glycemic foods don't spike your blood sugar and their sugars are metabolized differently than table sugar (because of the fiber content, mainly).
Some fruits are surprisingly high on the scale. Most aren't Fruit is generally wonderful to eat!0 -
You can get sugar from a klondike bar (which I do every night) or fruit, as long as calories in is less than out, then you will lose weight.0

I wouldn't worry to much about it, pay attention to your carbs, proteins, and fats, and stay on top of your caloric intake and as long as you are running a modest deficit you will still lose weight.... Best of Luck0

I wouldn't worry about it. I've read the book Sweet Poison- about quitting sugar- and the author tells you not to worry about the naturally occurring sugars in dairy.0

Everything (and I do me EVERYTHING) you put in your mouth causes an insulin response... even water. GI has to do with the SPEED at which it's digested, not how it's metabolized really. How it's metabolized, depends on what KIND of sugar it actually is.0 -
thank you everyone for your reply's, they all are helpful to me, i will continue as i am and watch the pounds melt away!!!! ( hopefully).0
